heavy handed makes the best burger in town. we came in santa monica for the holidays, an employee of the hotel where we were staying advised us to have lunch there and we loved it, it was simple but delicious, the perfect smash burger. we went back there several times afterwards, that’s how good it was.

My husband had tried heavy handed before I did and decided to take me after a little date gym sesh. Wow. I knew he had raved about it but Heavy Handed exceeded my expectations. Meat is flavorful and the fries are just the right amount of crispy. I’m going to say it… I’ll come here over in and out any day. I’m ready to go back for another double!

I really wanted to like this place. Was in the mood for a burger, and thought I might as well splurge and go all in, so I headed over to HH. There is no service. I’m not sure why there is human interaction at all, you have to sort of lean over to talk to a mystery person you can barley see behind a small window - a self-service touch screen would have been faster, and some how more personable. Picking up your food is just hands pushing it through another small window. The patio is nice for sure - sitting outside along Main Street is why we live here and why so many visit. I ordered the single, fries and a canned beer. The best part was the beer. The fries were good, nothing super special but they get the job done. The burger, well, I was left pretty disappointed. I didn’t even finish it. The bun was tasty but limp. The smash burger was sort of lost in the toppings - I didn’t order any thing extra or special, it’s just how it came. The pickle really threw me off. I think it’s bread and butter? I don’t know, but it clashed with the burger and toppings so much that I just stopped eating it about half way through. As smash burgers go, this has been the most disappointing I’ve had. It just wasn’t good. I am not sure I have ever not eaten an entire burger….. but this one, I threw half of it away. Bummer, especially at $27.03 all in.

Great location, atmosphere of the place is good. Staff needs to smile more, back in kitchen doing a great job to get food done. But front staff, like I said, they need to smile. Fries and drinks are great, but burgers need some work and not worth the price. I saved some of the fries and ended up buying a double double at in n out.

They use to be sooo good when then they had their food truck now the quality of the food do not taste the the same at all. The fries are saggy and it taste like a completely different kind. My bread was so wet it was awful. It’s sad that once an establishment start opening multiple location it always start to lack in consistency.

Amazing atmosphere and vibe!! Burger was phenomenal, although I'm not a big fan of their heavy sauce, fries were crispy and delicious! I can see why many people talk about this place on social media. Prices are to be expected being this close to the beach. Overall I enjoyed my visit ☺️
