We are big fans of Hillstone but on the 1st of Nov (without resy ended up at the bar) visit we were very disappointed by the surly attitude of the female bartender/server as soon as she realized we aren’t ‘drinkers’ albeit our food & nonalcoholic tab still added up to a 25% undeserved tip. It was the 1st time we’re trying out their burger & it was tasteless. All other food items are great including artichokes Hawaiian steak/prime ribs dover sole the best hot fudge sundae etc —except the burger —HiHo burger mmmuch better.

I ordered lunch at 2:50 PM on November 10th, 2025. A male escort showed me to my table, and since I was wearing a hat, he told me hats weren't allowed in the restaurant. Thirty minutes later, another male customer came in, also wearing a hat. However, the escort didn't tell him that hats weren't allowed. I felt extremely insulted. I will never return to this restaurant.

Great date night spot (with a reservation). Even with the reservation, we had to wait in a crowded waiting area for about 15 minutes. But the service was quick and attentive once seated. The grilled artichoke was excellent (so flavorful!) and the French dip was actually so good - we worried it was over hyped or over ordered because it is one of the more affordable mains but it's excellent. I've had better brownies but it was very satisfying as a shared dessert. Would recommend.

WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT WHEN YOU DINE HERE. THEY ADDED A 20% TIP AFTER I TIPPED IN CASH. I ALWAYS CROSS OUT THE TIP SECTION IF I TIP IN CASH SO THEY DEFINITELY KNEW THEY WERE STEALING. THEY HAD TO RUN MY CARD THRU A SECOND TIME WITH THE TIP SO YES IT WAS INTENTIONAL. ALEXANDRA WAS OUR WAITRESS. THIS IS OUTRIGHT THEFT!! HOW DARE YOU!!! I visited LA the weekend of 10/25 and my friend wanted to go to Hillstone. It was her birthday, but we had already been to numerous restaurants to celebrate, but we went here because it’s one of her favorites. I informed our server about her birthday while she went to the restroom and asked for the brownie/ice cream. After placing our order AND BEFORE we received any food, we received our check! This has never happened ANYWHERE before.
The young lady who brought the check wasn’t our server. We expressed our disbelief and she apologized and told us she was just told to drop the check off to us. I looked at the check and pushed it all the way to the back of the table. The check was $95. No problem.
We received our food, but the server was less than attentive. As my friend was complaining about her service, the server comes around the corner within distance to hear her complaining. As the server is cleaning off the table, she reached over to the other side and grabbed the check, which was in a little silver platter and distinctly different from the used dishes.
She brought us another check and added the chocolate brownie. I thought it may be complimentary, but I guess it wasn’t. No problem. I ordered it so I was willing to pay. Now it was my friend’s birthday, but this wasn’t a birthday treat as I had already treated her. She paid for her meal and I paid for mine. The entire bill was $100 pre-tax and since I was less than pleased with the service I tipped 15% of the entire pretax bill in cash ($15). My portion of the bill was $60.75. When I checked my bank account, the server also added a 20% tip onto my $60 tab. This is essentially theft!
I tipped in cash and tipped the minimum suggested amount because the service wasn’t worth a 20% tip. AND DEFINITELY NOT WORTH A DOUBLE TIP!!!!! Watch your bank accounts and credit card statements because this is definitely THEFT!
I forgot to add….while we sitting at the table my friend received a fraud alert from her bank where someone tried to swipe a tab for $191. She went and found the server who said it was a mistake. She accidentally charged another bill with her card by mistake. There’s ALOT GOING ON WITH CREDIT CARDS HERE!
I called and spoke with a manger named Matt who took my info, but I guess he got my info so he’d know where the complaint came from.

Hillstone never disappoints. The service and food are consistently top notch. The French Dip and Tuna Tartare are our go to dishes, always fresh and full of flavor. The margaritas here are also my favorite, perfectly balanced and delicious. Highly recommend.

My Wife and visited for dinner 10/12/25 we were regulars at Houstons in Manhattan Bch. we both ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye prepared perfectly pink center arrived hot to our table. unfortunately this is definitely a different cut than we’re use to my first bite was from the center of the cut and it was so tough it was undesirable i then tried the outer portion which is usually more fatty on this cut and it was perfect unfortunately there were only three bites there after trimming the majority of the fat. the mashed potatoes were great and so was the tabouli, as was our spinach artichoke appetizer. I also noticed the 🥩 steaks were rather thin when served which caught my attention immediately. our service was great reception and service staff we even had a great welcoming from the manager David. We really enjoy dining out and will definitely go back it just won’t be for steaks anymore.
