Miguel was nice and funny with a little touch of French ! The Meat was juicy and tasty. Thank you !
We chose Meat at Ocean for our family celebration. The team from top to bottom was extraordinary and exceeded our expectations. They were attentive without being bothersome, personal yet professional, and anticipated our every need. A special shoutout to our server Shawn who was fantastic!!! The food was a good as ever (this place never disappoints on flavor) and the drinks were fantastic. Whenever we're in Santa Monica, you can find us (or meet us) at Meat on Ocean!!
Amazing steak house also serving fresh oysters and delicious sides. Follow us on instagram @gemislist for more info and to discover other great spots!
Atmosophere is great. One of the best places in terms of view in Santa Monica. Steaks are not worth the price. Food arrived cold and had to be sent back. Do not recommend
The place is beautiful, food very good
I had high hopes for Meat on Ocean, but the service was far below subpar. It took forever to get extra dressing and bacon for a simple wedge salad. Our server, Valentina, claimed the bacon was still cooking, but when it finally arrived, it was ice cold, so clearly that wasn’t true. The delay and dishonesty were frustrating, especially given the restaurant’s upscale vibe. We expected better. Also, the manager, Chris, was no help, just kind of impersonal and brushed us off. Overall, the experience was disappointing. There are much better spots in the area.
Awesome steak and seafood house on Ocean Drive across from Santa Monica Pier. Interior decor was really cool and food was delicious. Will certainly be back and definitely recommend.
The 45 day Rib eye is the best when cool medium rare +
They made the best margarita verde and regular margarita.
Service was non existent and the steak was mediocre. Was supposed to be a special evening turned into a nightmare. Barley saw the waitress. Took an hour for them to bring me the wrong temperatures steak, waited another 25 min. To eat by myself. No apology, nothing and dinner was still well over $200 for 2 people. Overpriced sides were disgusting, drenched in oil. A disappointment would be an understatement. Don't waste your time or money. Update: they emailed me to finally apologized for such a horrible experience and asked me to email them to discuss it. I did. No response. Beyond awful. All the way around.
I was really sad and disappointed by our meal last night. We went to celebrate my birthday and while we had an amazing experience the first time we came for Mother's Day, this was the complete opposite experience. Our server disappeared and never checked in after the steaks were dropped to our table and they were practically RAW in the middle for both my daughter and I. By the time he did come back to us, I was too unhappy to eat more. He offered a free dessert and we said no thank you. He offered to pack something up to take to go, and I accepted, but the overall experience was just bad! There wasn't a manager at the front to speak with after so I am writing here! I don't know that I am willing to try again considering we spent a few hundred dollars for such a disappointing experience!

Here's my opinion for what it's worth as a casual diner. Meat on ocean always delivers the best service and the food is phenomenal. Compliments to the chef and cooks who contribute to this dining experience. Your dedication shows in the flavors and presentation of the meals. The servers are just wonderful, sincere and attentive. Not to mention the drinks-if you imbibe- are exciting, delicious and well crafted. Wonderfully impressed. The location is perfect for ocean views. The art and decor is edgy but inspiring for the imagination and accurately appropriate for a steak house. The menu is concise with dining options so no room for second guessing what you ordered. We rave about this to everyone who asks. Thank you for providing the perfect experience for my mother's 70th birthday & exceeding our expectations!
Came here with some friends on a night out, and overall, Meat On Ocean delivered a solid experience. Food: 7.5/10 – The dishes were flavorful and well-executed. While not mind-blowing, it definitely hit the spot. The steak was done right, and the sides had some creative flair. Value: 5/10 – This is where things felt a bit off. The prices are steep, and while the quality is good, the portions and overall return didn't quite justify the tab. Ambience: 9/10 – Absolutely loved the vibe. From the sleek interiors to the ocean breeze just outside, the setting feels both upscale and inviting. Great for a night out or a special occasion. Service: 8.5/10 – Staff was attentive, friendly, and kept things flowing smoothly. Not quite the best I've ever had, but definitely above average and made the evening feel cared for. Final Take: If you're looking for a place to enjoy good food, beautiful decor, and that classic Santa Monica energy, this is a strong contender. Especially if you enjoy a steak. Just be ready to pay a little more than it might be worth on the plate.
First time at Meat on Ocean. Our server was knowledgeable about the aging process and gave great service ,recommendations on appetizers, sides and and cuts. I'll be back at the recommended time to enjoy a nice sunset dinner!
Food was really good. Ambience and view was decent nothing crazy. I would go again just for the food.
We went to Meat on the ocean for my boyfriend's birthday this week and it was a terrible night. Full explanation below but I just want to say we will never be attending this establishment again. When you go to fine dining you pay not only for the high-level food but also the service and experience along with it. Meat failed this on every level this tuesday and it ended up being a frustrating night on what should have been a celebration of a birthday. I hope in the future when a Customer of your establishment puts down it's their birthday the meat staff etc pays more attention to their service and food. There are thousands of places people can spend a birthday celebration at in Los Angeles. Our experience this tuesday was unacceptable and completely disrespectful to customers who are paying for a fine dining experience. We will never be back. Hope the review helps the restaurant get their act together. Our issues started going sideways when my boyfriend ordered a medium-rare ribeye that came out med-well. Not sure how you overcook a $65 steak this much but it was. Along with that the fries that came out were cold and inedible as if they had just been sitting there not being run to the table. Things happen though and we were understanding as we asked for both to be refired. Our frustration from here began to mount thanks to our service by the server. The server barely apologized for this mess-up and disappeared for the next 20 minutes. Our drinks never got refilled. She never even checked on how the refired steak came out. You'd expect a restaurant that brands itself as fine dining to go out of their way to apologize. But there was nothing. No care from the server to management. No manager ever came over to our table to apologize for the mistakes. Instead all we received was our server ignoring us until she dropped off our check in in which she told u s “we took off the steak that you sent back”. Gee thanks for taking off the steak that didn't come out right.
