I enjoy this venue for late night snacks and they make a decent vodka martini . . . lovely, dark comfortable ambience. I do prefer the PDC downtown, but the Santa Monica location will do. My friends and I enjoy sitting in the bar rather than the main dining room. Warm and cozy.

Pacific Dining Car has served delectable delights since 1921. The ambience is regal, comfortable and elegant. Steeped in tradition, the service is impeccable. Appetizers of duck pate & kale salad, next we enjoyed a perfectly prepared medium rare steak, lobster, scallops and shrimp served with greens and cajun rice. We had the audacity to order the decadent bread pudding and sumptuous moist chocolate cake for dessert. To stuffed to exit, we lingered over a fresh brewed deep roasted cup of java. Pacific Dining Car is a "lost art" in LA. Open 24 hours & still serves the best breakfast @ 2am. An epicurean delight!

Pacific Dining Car on Wilshire Bl is the off spring of the PDC in Los Angeles. Unlike the LA restaurant, this location does NOT have an original train car. It's a restaurant building with a bronze cow on the wall outside. It's known for serving traditional continental cuisine and it is open 24/7. Have dined here several times over the years but it's my first review for this location. The interior decor can be described as traditional or dated. Their claim of fame 'baseball steak' was made famous in the movie Field of Dreams. The baseball steak is what my dinner partner ordered. On a dinner meeting here and this restaurant was not my choice. Fortunately, chilean Seabass is on the menu and it is prepared perfectly delicious. We also ordered the lobster Mac and Cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and heirloom tomatoes and avocado salad. A serious meeting calls for drinks; I had a Grey goose martini and my dinner pal had a Cabernet. I thoroughly enjoyed my chilean Seabass and martini. My pal did not enjoyed his baseball steak and wine. The lobster Mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes were subpar, we've had better elsewhere. I've had that baseball steak and it lacked seasoning and any flavor, and I just don't order steak here, it's not good. Not comparable to Mastro, Cut or most outstanding steakhouses in Beverly Hills. We both appreciated the excellent service by the entire staff. All very professional, and very accommodating and attentive. Excellent service is on par with the level of excellence in Beverly Hills. Because this restaurant is $$$$ high end primarily a steak restaurant, I had higher expectations and was disappointed to learn that even this location failed to present a satisfactory claim of fame baseball steak. It's no wonder they have promotions offering this steak for .99 cents! And that's the value of its lackluster flavor, earning a 1 star. No outdoor patio seating, Only indoor seating. Validated parking at back lot behind the restaurant. With the excellent service from the mostly long time employees personnel staff, delicious chilean Seabass, killer martini, and that fact this 5 star restaurant is open 24/7 elevated my rating to 3 star.
