So I’ve popped into this place quite a few times and was unable to get a table without a crazy long wait. So, determined, my girlfriend and I went at 5 PM on a Monday and managed to snag a table within 20 minutes. It’s such a buzzing spot and so many people want to eat there. So I guess my recommendation is just going early. That’s the only reason I gave it four stars because you can’t make reservations. As far as I know. With that said, the food is absolutely incredible and the service is fantastic. We got the popular Ding’s chicken sandwich, some fries, and the deviled eggs to start. Everything was fantastic and delivered quickly. I actually wish I was hungrier because I wanted to try some other things, but I’ll have to go back another day (super early). Here’s what the sandwich looks like (see photo) . It’s the most luscious flavors and the bread is so soft and buttery and melts in your mouth. You won’t regret it. Just go early.

The food is good. But the service is not kid friendly at all. They keep saying no to everything. No soup, no play for kids, they took away salt and sugar away from my daughter because she used 3 of them. They keep giving attitude to her . MY kid is quite and sits still but still a toddler that likes to play with whatever is on table.
Not friendly at all

Excellent first trip and went with the referred classic crispy chicken sandwich which was a very clean to eat item considering its outlandish size, served in thirds. Also oversized and lovely was the veggie burger, among the best of its genre. The fries are rather pedestrian considering all else and I wish they offered a stout or porter to drink but LA seems to stand for Lager Always in all the places in Santa Monica. Lagunitas is not substitute for a porter or stout. Will be back for the other proteins.
Vegetarian options: Huge and delicious veggie burger

My husband and I were in the area and decide to try a new restaurant. We took a chance on R&D Kitchen on Montana Avenue and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious (my husband got the fried chicken sandwich with a Kolsch beer and I got the chicken peanut noodle salad), and the service was great! We ate inside which was quieter than outside, and the atmosphere was lovely. We'll definitely go there again when we're in Santa Monica!

Hamburger was good … the lettuce gave us food poisoning … restaurant not receptive.
The other dish … meat was rare ate 1/2 sandwich - did not take anything home except 2 people sick with stomach issues for 24 hours.

We love the food and the casual and fun vibe at R+D! The crispy chicken sandwich is next level and don’t sleep on the open face Tuna Burger. Great cocktails and beer/wine selection. Our server Bowen was awesome, super friendly and helpful with suggestions. Highly recommend!

Great atmosphere, and even better food! I came for dinner on a Tuesday around 7:30. We waited about 30 minutes for a table with no reservation. The Asian noodle salad was fresh, nutritious, and delicious. The ribs were also amazing, dry rubbed but still juicy. Even the French fries and beer/wine options were impressive. This is a great spot to take friends, loved ones or even co-workers. Super trendy spot for locals, but not a secret, so expect to wait for your table.

The burger kept falling apart and it comes a la carte for $22 so you have to pay an additional $9 for fries, which were mediocre at best. Way overpriced for the quality you get.

Some of the food is good the rest is average. Stake is not good. Waiters specially female are very inpatient and sometimes rude。

One of my fave spots in LA.
Nice place and great food!
It can be easily crowded and you would have to wait. I came hereduring more quiet hours so it has never been an issue.
The food was really good. I tried two of their salads and both were original and super tasty with enough dressing (Asian & Chicken Noodle Pasta and the Newporter).
Special mention to the fries that are addicting and delicious!
I’ll come back and explore more, but definitely a cool spot!
Dietary restrictions: Burger with lettuce wraps as a gluten free option.
And, able to swap a dressing for another one very easily.
