We ordered poke bowl and shrimp & steak plate. The food was very generous in portions and super delicious. Despite of the fast food setup, their food was superior compared to the neighborhood Japanese restaurants.

I don't live in the area but wanted some "Japanese" sushi food. They are re-paving the parking lot so parking is chaotic and limited. If you even decide to come, which I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, park on the street.The restaurant is clean and the menu looks great. So many different options from salads, appetizers, soups, sushi rolls and combo plates. We ordered the gyoza, spring rolls, two sushi rolls and two combo steak & California roll plates. Everything was ready at once and we picked up the trays at the counter. The gyoza and steamed rice were the only decent items. The sushi rolls tasted old, the sushi rice was sticky and dense and the steak looked like leather. It was the worst $70 meal we ever had. We gave the leftovers to the homeless man sitting outside vs throwing it away or taking it home.Go elsewhere. The food here isn't good. The prices are great but the food is not good.

As the name suggests, it's a 'self served' restaurant, food was great tho. Japanese is my least favorite Asian food. However, I really enjoyed the food. I may be wrong, but I didn't observe any Japanese person in the kitchen or receiving orders, though. I'm just one of these people who like to see the nationality of the restaurant that I visit.

I was surprised at how yummy this place was ! I'm always craving some teriyaki and having to find parking for the colony for the blazed and glazed is quite annoying ! Full parking lot, easy access, and really friendly staff ! Portions were insane and quite delicious . Can't wait to try other dishes . Salads were fantastic all this for 13 dollars ! I think I found one of my spots !

It's fast casual Japanese food and I think the food is excellent. I usually get the teriyaki salmon plate which comes with two salads. They're Tempura is very good too.Vegetarian options: You can get all veggie tempura noodles and salads and there might be a few other items.

Food is delicious! Always fresh however some days my chicken is overcooked. Miso soup is great! The spicy chicken bowl, potstickers, tempura shrimp and veggies are a must try.
Looked to see what was near by and this placed appeared on my results. And let me tell you it was amazing and delicious the tempura plate is a must. The sushi was good and they have a salad bar too.
You deserve better. It's not bad for the price, but I really should have gone to Sawtelle. I had the tempura sushi combo. The batter was too hard and the sushi rice was ..weird? However the whole thing was like $13 and it also came with two salads and rice, which is a ton of food considering this is Santa Monica.
