Rude service, made my food way too spicy when I had asked them to make something mild beforehand. Gave me attitude when I told them it wasn’t mild, they used an entire chili in the sauce. They remade my food but it was only half the size of my original plate. Also charged $8 for 4 pieces of shrimp
Awesome

Have eaten here a few times now. The Pad See Ew, Papaya Salad, Hainan Chicken, Northern Thai Sausage, and many others are simply the best renditions in West LA. A gem we’re lucky to have!

Why is this place only 4.0? If i could give it 6 stars, I would. This place is so underrated. The food is phenomenal - restaurant level flavor and wok qi (the smokiness from cooking in a work at high heat), but minus the oiliness. A group of us came and ordered 1/4 of the entire menu and every dish just came out perfect. 100% recommend

I ordered takeout and I was excited to try this place since the location is convenient, but I found the food very underwhelming and not at all what was advertised.
I ordered the braised chicken noodle soup and the soup I received came with slices of chicken (the photo did not show sliced chicken) and maybe fish balls (?) which were not in the description on the website. The only order adjustments I made from the photo was choosing thin noodles over flat noodles.
I also ordered egg rolls and only received three egg rolls when five were shown in the photo. Additionally I ordered pad thai and it was very dry as compared to most other pad thai I have had. Overall, I think the flavor profile was there. I was just disappointed that it was not what I ordered.
I’m not sure if I would have had a better experience had I dined in. However, I hope the food quality would be consistent both dine in and takeout.

My wife and I have been eating Thai food since childhood growing up in Southeast Asia. From Bangkok to Singapore to NYC to SoCal, this Thai place of Chef Lee is #1 for us because it is more than just Thai food. It is the taste of Thai-Malaysia-Southern China, particularly because of Chef skills in making unique sauces on each dishes.
We cannot find such unique tastes from her sauce elsewhere in SoCal. Asked the Chef, she confirmed her hand-made no-artificial flavor sauces took half of her time in the kitchen.
I won't comment on other aspects of her food such as freshness, texture, presentation because Chef always ACED them all. No question. The uniqueness that she brings to LA Thai food scene is her dedication with those specialty sauces
When we taste her food our mind get to travel to the actual regions where such taste came from. It's a great, warm reminder of our Southeast Asian root in the middle of the convenience of American lifestyle in a big city.

Sanook Soi 38 has become one of my favorite dinner spots in LA. The Pad Thai was packed with flavor, not too sweet like some other places. The portion sizes are really generous, and everything tasted so fresh. The staff was so welcoming — they even helped us choose dishes since it was our first time. Already planning my next visit!
I went with 4 friends and we ordered: Issan sausage, garlic pork ribs, chicken pad ka prao, shrimp pad thai, beef pad see ew, and fried tofu panang curry. The owner greeted us when we walked in, took our order, and cooked everything! My favorite was the pad ka prao, but it all was delicious and fresh. I learned that they’re open late which is a good to know in the case of Thai cravings after a night out.
