Sidecar Donuts serves up visually stunning treats, and they do taste good—but the prices feel steep for what you get.
The flavors are interesting and creative: I tried the maple bacon and the huckleberry crème, and both had nice texture and flavor. Presentation is top-notch, and the shop looks inviting and modern.
That said, these are small donuts, and each one costs noticeably more than what you’d pay at similar bakeries. A box of half a dozen added up fast, so it doesn’t feel like a great value for everyday indulgence.
Service was friendly and efficient, and the donuts were fresh. But unless you’re treating yourself or celebrating something, it’s hard to justify spending that much regularly.
In short: good donuts, beautiful packaging, but overpriced. Worth a try once or twice—but I wouldn’t call it an everyday stop.
Best donuts so far!
We found this place just thinking of having some sweet in the morning and we love it so badly that return twice before leaving Santa Monica.
What have in this donuts? We try six options and we love it all (and this never happen)! They are simply so good, that you want to get more and more. I believe the secret is on the freshness, they made a few minutes before we eat.
They have two in special that we thought so crazy and different that we had to try: basil eggs Benedict and passion fruit pavlova… OMG! Just try it!
Heavenly! Specialty donut shop. Bought the Wednesday special Cinnamon bun donut with maple glaze and pecans (ate it before I could take a picture) and a Passion fruit Pavlova.
The passion fruit donut was a surprise. Walled in and found out this special is not on the online menu. Ordered it, tastes real good. Fluffy bit not too airy, fried to the right amount. Maybe the sign was right? ‘Best donut in California’
Found the service to be unfriendly and rude. No greeting and instead of asking me how can they help me today? or what would I like? He asked if I was delivering? Didn’t mention any rewards program and moved on to the next customer before I completed my transaction. Wouldn’t recommend this location though it has had friendlier service in the past.
Went for a café latte. The coffee itself was good, but they ONLY have a small size and said they can’t make a bigger cup in spite of one of them initially saying they could. I don’t understand this. Also there was no seating outside. Seemed like chairs were missing from the hightop and the few tables they did have were already full. So I can’t say I’ll be back here nor recommend it.
Matcha latte good
Way overpriced, not worth the hype.
The gluten free mudslide doughnut was DIVINE. Friendly service and good vibes!
Their iced coffee tastes great. My husband likes their donuts but I'm more into the cafe and latte menu. Coffee was not bitter and tasted like they used good quality beans. Nice outdoor patio with seats.

Small seating area which is great as other branches usually don’t have an area for dining in. Doughnuts are really good and are actually more like a cake. New flavors are added all the time but the classic ones are always there and reliable. Coffee is decent and worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Delicious! The cake doughnut was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.

I'm in love with their Apple Fritter and gluten-free options. The location is great — I love sitting there with a book.

This place definitely provides among the best donuts in town. Growing in Europe, with limited to no donuts culture, it has been only since I discovered Sidecar that I started to enjoy a donut (or two) every now and then.
My personal favorite is the butter and salt donut as well as the old-fashion, both are a must try. My son loves the chocolate one and the huckleberries donuts. Two other great options.
Some may argue they're a bit on the pricier side and too gourmet, but their size, freshness, and the wide range of flavors they offer justify the price, making them essential for any donut enthusiast or someone simply looking for a tasty snack.
Vegetarian options: Most of their donuts are vegetarian to the exceptions of the bacon one
Dietary restrictions: Vegan donuts available
Parking: Large parking lot at the back - street parking also available
Kid-friendliness: Cannot do better than donuts for kid friendliness
