We had a great time with an afternoon lunch surprise birthday party that went off brilliantly. The service was outstanding, give out large party -- the staff kind and a great friendly manager! The poolside, outdoor are is perfect for either intimate lunch in their cabanas or a large party like ours at a long table. I think my only disappointment was the limited lunch menu, which seemed different from dinner or what I'd expected. That said the Smash Burger was good, it just seemed there were only a handful of choices and didn't really match what I'd expected - given a flat bread, a salad and a burger single choices. BUT...they were kind enough to allow us to bring our own cake as well, so points there! I'd definitely do it again!!
Brusselse spruitjes waren heerlijk! De ober dacht mee over de verdeling van onze gerechten en stelde voor om vooraf de spruiten en de pesto cheese knobs te nemen. Goede keus!
A little pricey, but the food was good, but not amazing. The service was nice and polite, even though they overcharged me. But the manager gave us free parking. It is basically a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in a very nice hotel.
Great food and service. Nice ambiance. I really enjoyed the breakfast omelette and cappuccino.
The food is delicious and the service very good. However it is very expensive for what you get.
It was delicious. I especially appreciated that even the fruits accompanying the french toasts were delicious — it’s the small thibgs that make a difference.

A friend and I tried the Saturday night Happy Hour. Warren was our server. He was attentive to our needs on the patio. Mushrooms Quesadea was delicious. Lots of cheese.

I enjoyed my stay at the Viceroy and especially enjoyed their offerings at the Sugar Palm. Great service! We dined at the bar on a beautiful outdoor day in Santa Monica. Super chill vibe, poolside, and thankful for the yummy recommendations by our server. I wish I got her name but she recommended the tacos and they were delightful. The poke bowl was so colorful and beautiful and the avocado toast was tasty and plentiful. Would eat here again when I'm in town.

Was staying at the hotel and our dinner experience left a lot to be desired. We had a reservation but there was no hostess to great us, seat us, or check off our reservation. We seated ourselves. Ordered the cheese board which was great, and the crispy chicken which was also delicious. The rest of the meal not so much. Salmon for entree was dry. Don't think it was overcooked, just not a quality piece of fish. Beans served with the fish needed salt and were just bland. At some point our waiter had left without saying anything and someone else started covering our table. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday night. We asked which dessert was best and ordered it. The flourless chocolate cake was pretty horrible especially considering how pricey the food is here. I expected a really nice dessert but honestly it was so dry , something from the bakery at Ralph's would have tasted better. The restaurant serves a lot of the same food for lunch and dinner, not enough variety to make me want to stay at the hotel again. Definitely wouldn't come to the hotel just to eat that's for sure.

First time at Sugar Palm and it was a good experience. Pretty restaurant flowing to the back patio and pool area. Had a Reuben and short rib grilled cheese sandwich, shared that was yummy. Good service.
We had the pleasure of spending our first dinner at Maui here, and it was amazing. We were celebrating our honeymoon and the service was outstanding, everyone made sure we were having the best experience we could. It is also worth saying that this place just reopened after being the HQ for the red cross after the awful wildfires they suffered a year ago, so if you come to Maui please pass by and ask for Ford! You won't regret it!
This is the first time I've ever posted a negative review. I ordered oysters and they were good. Very small but good. Then 2 entrees, the flank steak and salmon, neither had ANY flavor to them what so ever. It was incredible. It was almost a science experiment with the mission to remove all taste... I had to ask my girlfriend if it was just me... it was not... it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't $45 per entree for the small portion. In my opinion, when you jump over the $30 mark it better be something that makes you say, hmmm that's pretty darn good... They don't have enough servers for the space and I was surprised on a Friday night with nice weather this was the case. The ambiance is very nice, but it's obvious why the Viceroy isn't the hopping place it used to be. *Nothing to do with the restaurant, but we then went to a comedy show right after dinner onsite at the hotel and it was awful and I mean awful. I tried to do as many supportive laughs and claps but there is a limit. We and a couple other couples left early. In all fairness the crowd was pretty bland, but for a paid event it was pitiful. I've seen better at a high school talent show. It's a shame, this place has crumbled to this level. It has the makings of being a place that could be cool again. Hope they turn it around, but I won't be going back.
Loved being outside at the sugar palm! We sat at the bar and had a happy hour treat. Great cocktails + bites. We were even able to get poolside glasses and take them over to the pool. Loved the blood orange margo and the Moscow mule. Very fresh, and a wonderful staff!
