My daughters and I came here on a recommendation from one of my employees while in town for our mother daughter vacation. We love sushi and being from Pennsylvania wanted to try a great place while on the California coast.
I decided to get the nozawa trust me and let my daughters try some of it so they could try a bunch of new things, plus we ordered a ton of individual pieces and a few hand rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious and my younger daughter even said I ruined sushi for her because it was so good. And on top of that it was reasonably priced. The only negative was that at times it was hard to get a servers attention, and since we didn’t have just one they were all sort of just running around all over the place.
I would definitely come back here next time I’m in the area.

I will dream of coming back here! We each got the “trust me” and it was some of the best sushi I’ve had. It was all so fresh and the portions were filling! The hand rolls were delicious. We walked in early and were seated right away. However after 6ish (Friday night) it was packed!

Very friendly service. Sushi is fresh and really good, even though the portion is not very big. They dont bring all order at once, but one by one. I did wish it was bit faster the dishes to follow one another. We enjoyed the ambiance and the whole experience.
Sugarfish is exactly what we had been looking for. A genuine, delicious, and authentic Japanese restaurant that offers exquisite sushi — beautifully presented and served with heart. It was a gastronomic paradise, pure pleasure and delight from real sushi. We highly recommend visiting this restaurant — you will truly taste the difference and recognize the flavor of delicate, fresh fish. We will definitely come back when we're in Santa Monica.
