I have travelled to Japan 10x in 2 years, this is on par if not better food wise than any trip to Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto. The authenticity as it relates to the space, the chefs, even the toilet makes me feel like I’m thousands of miles away. You’d be doing yourself a disservice not coming here.
Absolutely amazing. The black cod tuna is comparable to Nobus
authentic japan-standard sushi in LA. sushi snob here and its my second time back at Brothers Sushi Santa Monica.
id always choose the Omakase lunch menu here. its good value at $100 per pax. i get a starter, 10 nigiris, salad and soup. every bite was more impressive than the last.
fish was well aged, rice was warm and well seasoned with shari, no soy sauce or wasabi is provided because the sushi/nigiri gets seasoned by the chef before he serves it up - all the hallmarks of good sushi enjoyed in a relaxed and casual setting.
its never busy at lunch. made a last minute booking (2hrs before on day of( and got seats immediately. also love that they have Orion (my fav japanese beer) on draft.
always a joy dining at Brother’s Sushi. arigato gozaimasssssss
High quality sushi and impeccable service. Can't recommend it enough.
I tried the Chirachi, the Sashimi lunch and the omakase. All were incredible. I visit often.
Brothers place teleported us back to our Japan trip with the decor, service, and food. We did the omakase at the bar and every course was amazing. You start with 3 beautifully plated appetizers, 10 sushi rounds, and fresh dessert. Worth every penny so put this place on your list for a special occasion!
Super overpriced and sushi is not good, the handroll seaweed was so thick u couldn’t bite thru and it was loud inside. Service was good at least! Don’t do omakase.
If you’re searching for the best sushi on the Westside—possibly in all of LA—The Brothers Sushi in Santa Monica is where your journey ends. This isn’t just dinner; it’s an elevated, deeply thoughtful experience that showcases the absolute best of what sushi can be.
The fish? Impeccable. Much of it is flown in daily from Japan, and every piece is handled with masterful precision. Whether you're indulging in their omakase or ordering à la carte, every bite is perfectly balanced, subtly complex, and unforgettable. The toro is rich and buttery, the Hokkaido scallop is impossibly delicate, and the uni tastes like pure ocean gold.
The omakase is truly the star—it’s intimate, artfully paced, and constantly rotating with the seasons. You can feel the chef’s passion in every course. And even with the elevated quality, the atmosphere remains warm, relaxed, and unpretentious. It’s clear the team here is focused on one thing: excellence.
Santa Monica is lucky to have a spot like this—a world-class sushi destination tucked into a calm corner of the Westside. For serious sushi lovers, this is a must.

I don't write Google reviews but I had to because this is the best establishment I've ever eaten at. The service was excellent. The staff was kind, checked on us just the right amount, and had baskets that sat beneath the table so purses didn't sit on the floor. The cut salmon sushi roll was fresh. The fish and chips were the best I have ever had in my life. The fries weren't crisp but the flavor made up for it. If I was from here, I would never shut up about this place. But since I'm not, a passionate Google review will have to do.

The staff at this bustling Santa Monica Japanese hot spot are simply some of the nicest and most attentive staff around. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed by the omakase served to our table. Without wanting to sound too uptight, I’ve been fortunate to dine at some of the world’s best Japanese omakase restaurants including many in Tokyo and New York. The key to them is always the rice and this is where the meal honestly fell apart for us as the the rice with our sushi was simply not well prepared and that was followed by the various fish and crab that lacked the brightness, creativity and freshness that one would expect of a $200 per person tasting. The restaurant is beautifully designed with an incredibly unique floor gallery of knives that really sets the tone but the lighting is far too bright and leaves one with a bit of a cafeteria feeling. Overall, Brothers is a local favorite and perhaps we simply made an error ordering the Omakase but unfortunately this is all we have to base our opinion.

This is a great sushi restaurant, service is amazing, the food is fresh and delicious and the vibe is nice. The only thing they can work on is the lighting. It's way too bright at dinner and the neon sign is too trendy and gives off a study hall vibe. Lose the neon and have a more romantic vibe and it's a winner.

Brother's sushi is the best in all of LA! I've been to brothers many times now and can say that they have the best service, the best fish, the best Japanese dishes, and the best sushi in Los Angeles. They have an amazing friendly service and the food here is top notch for any occasion. I've been here with friends and for date nights. If you're looking for top tier sushi then you must go here. The Santa Monica location is our go-to location. I highly recommend it. Chef Mark is the best and our host Yuki always welcomes us with great hospitality. Thank you Brothers Sushi!!

Our table of 5 ordered the omakaze experience which was wonderful! The servers were lovely and the food was so fresh, flavorful, and beautiful. It’s a treat $200 pp) but well worth it - we were completely full and satisfied.
