First time here,Stopped here on our way to the river, and I love their sandwiches!I only went to the deli and everyone was hiding out back. The person who made me a sandwich was a little elderly made the sandwiches slow I felt like she didn't know how to make it.LASTLY I tried to pay at the deli and the guy was rude a** hell the way he gave me back my sandwiches because "he was having trouble at the computer"Smh

Well staffed, spacious, and by far the best safeway in Santa Rosa. Stopped going to Mendo Ave after I realized there was a 4th st location, and stopped going to 4th st after my first time visiting this one. THIS is the new standard for Safeways.

I Used to love shopping at this Safeway, and have been here since it was G&G. This is the second time in a week that I've been treated poorly and publicly embarrassed when paying with food stamps. But this time I was threatened with assault by Mariana who was laughing at me and harrassing me all because the deli mid charged a sandwich. The manager witnessed her saying this an tried to stop her but she kep

I just had the best experience with a young lady named Jordan at the deli. She was so good with customer service and so sweet. My sandwich was made so well, and fresh!! Thank you Jordan for your awesome customer service!!

This Store Is Well Managed And In Such Exemplary Order. REALLY: Pleased To Shop And Work There. I Am Also An Employee That Works There. AND: Have Done My Level Best To Make This GOLD-Ticket Store A Really Great Place Throughout This Community. This Store Is Furthermore A Great Part Of My History When It Was The G&G Market. When My Parents Were Around Throughout The 1980's And 1990's. AFTER: My Mom's And Sister's Passing Things All Over The Place Began To Change Throughout G&G As Well Back Then.

This was the second time in 2 months that on a Friday the $4.99 Fried Chicken was not ready between 3 and 4 p.m. last month they told me it would take 15 minutes and today it be a 10 minute wait. Both times I didn't have time to wait around. They need to space out their cooking a little bitter.

The Starbucks in this Safeway is one of my frequent, almost daily stops. The baristas are always super friendly and over the top welcoming. The stand outs are Cara, Keana and the lovely Olivia. Even if the line is long or the staff have worked a longer shift, they're always super friendly. I like the drinks, but more than that I enjoy the chats. Sometimes about the latest Criminal Minds episode or events of the day. The guys and gals here make me look forward to my daily coffee stop..

My boyfriend and I got to experience the WARM welcome to this great city from Nevada... only to have the check out lady almost refuse BOTH our I.Ds for wanting to purchase alcohol. Saying she "didn't feel comfortable"... The only reason she went through with the purchase was because my boyfriend happened to have his passport card on him. Being over 21 I've never felt so humiliated and juvenile, considering she wouldn't stop going on about it. I hope you feel "comfortable" with this review, lady.

Growing up around the corner I definitely miss the family-owned charm that G&G had. Safeway being the nearest grocery store near me (and also because the Marlow location's parking lot is a mess and they never have enough cashiers) I have continued to shop here. It has definitely become more of a Safeway, no more of their oven baked pork buns, egg foo yung isn't the same, they no longer sell peking duck, but alas that's living in the past. Safeway does have competitive prices when it comes to their meat department, produce, and you cannot beat their $5 Fridays, so cannot complain about that. The produce and meat selection has gotten smaller (having a more Asian background, I was disappointed to learn they no longer carry pork belly.) Staff is generally friendly, though many of them either don't last long or move on (including former G&G employees) while other cashiers seem more interested in taking their time or conversing too much with fellow employees. The place is almost always in a constant state of a remodel somehow, when it is just fine the way it is. Their bakery and floral departments are great, however. Hard working people that are great at their craft. They are still part of the old G&G crew, which is probably why they're still so successful and my go-to if I need anything for a special occasion. There also have been more of an abundance of homeless people around, hanging around the tables out front and other places around the premises. Again growing up here there always were a couple people but never hostile and kept to themselves. But I've personally been yelled at by this new homeless crowd and have witnessed one urinating in the bushes right out front of Safeway. They have a camp or impromptu bike workshop set up sometimes as well. I know Santa Rosa has a homeless problem, but it just makes me feel unsafe when I'm shopping here after work alone at night sometimes. There were a few security guards here and there, but none of them seem to be very effective. However, I will say the latest guard they have as of today has been doing much better, but too bad they don't have someone here besides him on his off days. Ultimately, grocery prices are pretty great especially if you have a Safeway Club Card and aren't super particular about buying brand name foods. $5 Fridays have great deals, but it can get pretty busy (especially around lunch/dinner time) so plan accordingly because the parking lot can get really full. Not a huge variety when it comes meat/produce (your more exotic foods I should say.) Out of convenience I will continue to shop here, but if I were to move would I go out of my way to come here? Probably not.

Really like this location. Very spacious inside for cart maneuver and helpful staff. A self check out would be useful but the lines are never too bad. I prefer coming over other locations. Plenty of parking.

Are you kidding me? Bagging groceries is an entry level position. Is it not common sense to bag raw meat separately? To put delicate items such as eggs and bread on top? On top of that, when you are politely excused from the job in which you're being paid- don't cop an attitude unless you're willing to be re-educated on the basics of your job. Do better management- this is pathetic.

This place is super frustrating. I usually come here around After work hours five and seven and I get it it's busy. But when I walk in and there are no hand basket is completely out of stock where they are stored at the entrance to the store and I have to go look for one at the checkstand it's extremely annoying. It seems as though there are never enough courtesy clerks on hand to help people with bagging groceries and taking orders out to people's vehicles like the good ole days. And this can only typically mean one thing that the store is being poorly managed. I was in a couple nights ago and there was one courtesy clerk there who was sort of wandering around at one point checking the schedule at a nearby closed register while there are customers bagging their own groceries. And nobody seems to be managing anyone everyone does what they feel like doing and there is no accountability whatsoever. I typically never give one star review but I am very tempted to here . The hours between three and seven in the afternoon are extremely important to a business and if it wasn't for Safeway's convenience I would never shop there
