I loved the wine choices and the beautiful views of this tasting room!
I recently attended an event held at Sugarloaf Wine Co. called "Sip With the Stars". The cost was $97.00 per person. This was the most disappointing wine and food pairing I have ever attended. Tablespoon size bites of salad, soup and a beef slider. One ounce pours of only four available wines. Guests had to carry a check off sheet of paper in order to be served. Poorly attended. I would never recommend attending an event at this property.
Amazing unique wines and exceptional service. Susan is an absolute gem. We will be back :)
It is a brand new wine tasting space and it’s already offers a lot. Beautiful outside area with stunning Californian views has two bocce courts and nice sitting area to enjoy the quality time with your friends. The tasting zone is so airy and spacious, has very modern design and looks sharp with its tasteful combination of rugs and leather chairs on concrete. Kudos to the interior designer for making it just right for settle, solid, unpretentious comfort for your guests.
I wish I could say that our visit to Sugarloaf Wine Co. was a memorable experience and that we could recommend it to others. However, there were simply too many frustrating occurances, starting with my email inquiring about how to purchase tickets for their June 25th music event. I received a response that I did not need to buy tickets, just arrive on the day of the event. The following day I got another email, this time from I believe the owner who stated that there was a link to purchase tickets and sent that over so that we were able to reserve our place. Then once we arrived on that 25th the musical group was not whom we had been hoping for. We were also informed that they were going to be food trucks and so when there was only one food booth, we were kind of caught by surprise. It was Japanese food which we normally love but they offered only three choices. We had chicken on a stick and a shrimp wrap, both of which were somewhat bland. We went into taste the wine, and I asked if I might taste the chardonnay prior to purchasing. I was told,"no" that they didn't allow tasting during events. However, earlier my friend had gone in and had a different server (we believe this was the owner) and she was able to get a taste of wine before purchasing her glass. By the way, the wine glasses were between 12 and $16 each. Quite a bit of money tonight allow a tasting before purchase! We were also told to set up our chairs in the back to allow for the lower chairs which we did and yet there were many that sat up front with much higher chairs than ours.Overall I would say that the experience was forgettable and disappointing but we do want to put a shout out to the artists that were there even though there were not many they were very friendly and accommodating much more than the winery itself.Postscript:I was delighted to receive an email from Ronald Du Preez, offering an apology and also a gift of the 2021 and 2022 Rosé as a way of making amends.I gave him a call to thank him and to discuss the points mentioned in my review. He had addressed my concerns with the staff immediately and I want to highly applaud this owner for taking the time to dialogue my earlier frustrationns. I will be returning to this winery and look forward to future events!

They treated us like family! We drive by this location often and have seen it's evolution. Once we saw the sign that it was available for walk in tastings, we did just that. The space is gorgeous! But most importantly, in an era where tastings have become expensive and hospitality has become lackluster, we once again felt the graciousness that is Sonoma. Ronald (part owner) and Susan (tasting room manager) were so welcoming. Sean (Shawn? not sure of spelling), former Sous chef from a swanky well known restaurant in Healdsburg, happened to be there preparing food for a food truck catering event that evening in Cloverdale and he honored us with 3 pieces of his glorious fried chicken as we headed out the door. We left there thinking, "What a find"! And we are already hoping to have a family member get married there. If any of you are looking for an event space of any kind, or a place to custom crush your grapes, this is the place. Highly recommend. Or just pop in for a tasting of the wonderful wine they present from small production wineries and I promise you a good time. This experience made my day.
I work out at Parkpoint Gym, and a fellow I chat with all the time (Martin)told me he works for this wine company. Told him I have been in Cali many years and live right down the street and never heard of it before. He invited me to come by and said I would be very impressed. I plan on going by this week.
This has been on my list and finally got there yesterday. The Sugarloaf Wine Co. tasting room was amazing! First it was absolutely gorgeous - the architecture, interior design was inviting, and the grounds and bocce courts beautiful. The service could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We spent time with Susan and Jim and they were delightful. Then of course, there is the wine. To be able to go to one tasting room and taste several brands is very cool. I went home with some amazing pinots. And did I mention that dogs are welcome?!
My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way to Santa Rosa and what a delight! The Pinot noir tasting was wonderful, the decor and views were lovely and the service was great. Will definitely return on our next trip. Thanks Sugarloaf! ?
