Gorgeous interior at the Green Center flows into Prelude, with furnishings and lighting that are perfect for a dinner with friends or a romantic evening. Great before a show, but also would be fun as a destination for drinks and a nice meal. University wait staff was well-trained and attentive. Bar tenders - friendly and skilled. Definitely will go back
ugh this was such a disappointment, limited and confusing menu, pre-cooked hamburgers reheated, cold french fries and confused wait staff. Please someone change the management at this beautiful restaurant and raise it to the level of the overall experience on the green center
THE most ridiculously constructed menu! Infantile doesn't begin to describe it. What a shame to destroy a beautiful room with such incompetent food.
We continue to find this a comfortable place with excellent food. The noise level is very low and the service from the students is efficient and interesting.
Lovely restaurant with excellent service. I started with the Israeli cous cous salad, which was delicious. My husband had the soup which was also wonderful. He opted for a second appetizer rather than an entree -- the lobster salad, which was also wonderful. I had the Korean fried chicken. It was nice and crispy, but the marinade was only so so, I thought -- although this might just be a matter of taste. For dessert, he had the sorbets -- good but nothing special. I had the cheese plate. Unfortunately, the Humboldt Fog, one of my favorite cheeses was way over the hill, ammoniated. I ate it -- but should have sent it back. Plate could also have used more of the jelly and it was hard to get at the honey.
We always eat at Prelude before an event at GMC. However I was shocked when we were charged $18 each for a well vodka tonic. Needless to say we won't be ordering drinks from the bar again
I hope we were just there on an off night, but service was slow and the food wasn't worth the price. They're lucky that they're the only restaurant near the performance center!
Food was excellent and a great way to dine prior to the concert at Weil Hall. We had the pre fix menu which is $47 pp for two courses. My husband enjoyed his duck and I loved the seabass. Attractively presented with lots of flavor.
The waiter was charming and attentive, and the food was tasty. However, the price, $49 for two modest courses, made the experience less than positive. Although I made the reservation weeks in advance, the restaurant was crowded after the symphony, and we were seated next to the entrance in one of the less desirable spots.
Prelude has upped their game. It is a gorgeous destination dining experience. The food was creative and tasted great. The student servers just can't do enough for you. A real gem of a restaurant..and you already have a parking spot for the concert.

Perfect - if a bit pricey - for a lovely dining experience before an event at the Green Center.
It's very convenient to have dinner and go to the concert. The students are very nice however they forget to refill water glasses and they like to talk with each other while you sit waiting for your wine or bread and butter. The portions are small and the meal is a bit pricey.
Great restaurant, service is slow because they use college students. Location is fabulous.
This was our second time having dinner at the Prelude before a show, and it will be our last. For some reason we were seated at a drafty table near the entrance even though there was a nice table by the patio window for four. A couple with no children was seated there after we arrived. All of our appetizers and entrees were acceptable, but nothing special. My daughter's sea bass had a bone in it and my husband's meat was tough. The worst part of the experience was the service. Inexperienced, and completely unprofessional. My wine I requested was forgotten, and the waiter didn't seem to understand how to communicate. We had the same problem the first time we had dinner there. We eat out in San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma county frequently, and the Prelude is not an enjoyable experience.
It was a mom-daughter date nite with reservations before the show. We arrived on time, service was stellar, the food was ok... our first course was delicious, asparagus salad for me and bisque for my daughter. Main course , filet mignon and eggplant schnitzel.... I was very disappointed in the schnitzel.. no flavor what so ever. My daughter enjoyed her filet but passed the greens off to me. We might try it again but for our first time, we left unexcited. Our waiter Zachary was the best however!!! Service made up for any lack of flavor!! The show was phenomenal!!!
