I'm a local and I know this place is beloved by locals, but I came here for the first time last night and was underwhelmed.

Service was excellent, no complaints there!

There is some variety in the main dishes offered, but very little variety in sides. Lots of meat and potatoes. My steak was done perfectly, but the veggies were soggy and mashed potatoes were .... boring?

Atmosphere is dark, cramped, and very loud. Dated, definitely needs an update.

The thing is, everything is so expensive these days, if I'm going to pay that much for a meal it should be an experience with some personality. This felt like going out to dinner with my folks in the 90s.

Great spot for dinner in Santa Ynez. The food was really tasty here and I love the menu. Cool setting with a lively bar scene. Good service. I had the chicken stuffed with goat cheese and it was delicious. Also, recommend the filet mignon. I will come back here for sure.

I haven't been to the Brothers restaurant in a while. I was glad I went as I had one of the best ribeye steaks I've ever had! My wife had the trout, and our friends had the salmon. It was absolutely delicious. The staff was so polite and professional! It may be on the expensive side, but it was worth it! We will absolutely return!

Was visiting Santa Ynez Valley to do some wine tasting and ended up at the Red Barn. What a great restaurant. All our meals were delicious. I had the rack of lamb and the potato and leek soup. The bread was awesome! Would not hesitate to return for another meal!
Don't forget to order a dessert...to die for!

Had dinner Tuesday night after not eating here for 5 years…. Outstanding in every aspect!!! I had the house smoked salmon appetizer and the 1 pound slab of prime rib….. Both off the charts delicious…. Prime rib melted in my mouth….. Our server, Junior paid close attention to every detail….. Personally I think this is the finest restaurant in all of Santa Barbara County

Dinner at Brothers Restaurant At the Red Barn was easily one of the most memorable steakhouse experiences I’ve had.

The filet was phenomenal — honestly one of the top three filets I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and full of flavor. The sides were just as impressive, and the Mud Pie for dessert was absolutely ridiculous in the best possible way — rich, indulgent, and unforgettable.

We went on Sunday night, the day after Valentine’s Day, and the place was packed (good thing they take reservations). We'd had an unfortunate experience the night before at a different local restaurant, but despite the crowd, we were seated right away at a great table. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance: relaxed but upscale, with a retro country steakhouse vibe that feels both classic and comfortable.

The staff was outstanding — attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. We also enjoyed a fantastic local cab from Brave & Maiden that paired beautifully with the steak.

From start to finish, it was a perfect evening. This place absolutely lives up to its reputation.

We had an amazing family dinner! All of our meals were phenomenal, but the burgers were the best I’ve ever had! Our cocktails at the bar before dinner, were great as well (margaritas & martinis). Brandon waited on us at our table, and he was so nice and in top of everything…he added to the already wonderful experience!

My wife and I had an early reservation and were seated promptly, which made for a great start to the evening. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer while we looked over the menu for our entrées. Unfortunately, the calamari was a bit underwhelming. It felt like we were fishing for it in a sea of fried onions. After picking through the onions to find the small pieces of calamari, the plate still looked almost untouched because there were so many onions.

Thankfully, the experience really turned around with the main courses. My wife ordered the ribeye, and it was cooked perfectly to her liking with excellent flavor. I had the prime rib special, which was also cooked perfectly and tasted even better than I expected. Paired with au jus and horseradish sauce, it was outstanding, and I finished every bite. The mashed potatoes served with both dishes were creamy and delicious as well.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal and will definitely be back, we’ll just be skipping the calamari next time.
