Yeah if you want to get some different more authentic kind of restaurant for Mexican food this is the place to go and it has a drive-thru if you can freaking believe that. Awesome food a little bit on the pricey side but it is Scotts valley after all.
Find this place on google looking for a quick bite. Did not disappoint! Soft tacos were amazing and very flavorful. Cool vibe. We would come back:)
This place takes Taco Tuesday to a new level! Excellent tacos, with a nice assortment of the accoutrements to make it great! Really worth a visit to fill up on some authentic Mexican food!
I ordered the crispy tacos with the red sauce and they were amazing. Went back again and had the same thing. It was still just as good, also did the happy hour so got a couple really good drinks fora reasonable price!! Cheers
Summary: La Chimichanga has the same awesome vegan menu with lots of options. The best bit is their next level jalapeños / salsa at salsa bar. Best in town i claim!!
Ok so, Question: What could be better than an entire vegan menu in a tex-mex restaurant?
Answer: A vegan menu with faux meat proteins.
La Chimichanga is one of the few good ones who understands the vegan clientele. We really appreciate you! :-)
also, they have weekday offering of happy hour from 2 to 6 PM which I believe is like one dollar off drinks
surface is usually pretty fast although it’s usually just one person who is also dealing with drive-through. The lady, I talk to has been working here three years and had worked here when it went under other names such as “habaneros” and “salsas”!!
Ambiance: mexican music with lots of frickin accordians.
They are pet friendly and have a nice patio outback that is fenced in where you could bring your yapping little fuzz butt 🐶 🐕
Very tasty! The 5 lb burrito is fun to split with a group. Delicious variety of cocktails, too.
The BAHAMMA MAMA was really good and also the shrimp tacos was delicous
The Chimirita is unbelievable. So tasty, so fun, and flavor explosion in the mouth
Our visit to La Chimichanga Cantina, nestled in the northern part of Santa Cruz, was unfortunately met with mixed feelings. As a group of seven, we appreciated the welcoming ambiance of the restaurant. It was just a short walk from the Hilton we were staying at and seating was spacious whether inside or at their patio. However, our dining experience was hindered by several issues. Three individuals in our party received incorrect food orders, resulting in prolonged wait times for the remakes of their meals. Additionally, some of the salsa offerings fell short in terms of flavor... the orange salsa (perhaps habanero?) had an unusual fishy taste which worried me. Glancing over at their workspace, it was evident that the restaurant was understaffed, likely contributing to the confusion with our orders.
Despite these setbacks, the cozy atmosphere of this restaurant with cultural art surrounding the walls provided a pleasant backdrop for our gathering and staff were very kind and welcoming, just overwhelmed. Additionally, the small parking lot could pose a challenge during peak hours due to its size. I couldn't imagine how staff could juggle a full restaurant which would inevitably cause further congestion for customers and waitstaff in ordering and meal preparation. It's definitely worth a try to judge for yourself, but I wouldn't recommend visiting during their peak times.
Last time I ordered the vegan chimichanga, and it didn’t come with any of the vegan cheese or vegan sour cream that is in the description. Maybe they don’t keep them in stock

My vegan daughter and I visited La Chimichanga and were very surprised with their regular dinner and vegan options. . . And the shrimp are great also. They have an entire vegan menu separate from the regular one with options like chimichangas, taquitos, and more. This place is perfect to go with friends or family. The decoration of the restaurant is very beautiful as well. The exterior is colorful, and the interior has paintings of alebrijes. It's a very lively place to go to for any occasion.
Great food. My burrito with carnitas was great and well seasoned. Bean paste accompanying tortillas was delicious.
Also this looks like an inviting place for a happy hour.

If you want casual dining Mexican food in Scott’s Valley, this is the spot.
The big-plate Mexican food itch needs to be scratched on occasion (though not regularly) and La Chimichanga Cantina delivers just enough across all categories to justify a trip. How far you wish to travel is up to you. That being said I had an ice cold Pacifico on draft that was the best I’ve ever had. That alone is worth traveling out of your way for.
