I don’t know where to start. Sushi is really top notch in this place. They serve you actual shredded wasabi on the side (not only the colored horseradish paste). I have visited many sushi places and this is the first place doing this.
Fish is perfectly cut. I visited this place twice in two days (Friday and Saturday) and tried different fish and all of them were delicious and fresh.
Chefs are very kind and smiled, you can tell they love what they do :) it was great to chat with them a bit while sitting at the „bar”.
Place can be crowdy, so during peak hours expect a little bit of waiting time.
Yakisoba was OK :) but I have to admin - I had a better one in Tucson, AZ.
I definitely recommend visiting and trying on your own!

Sat at the Sushi Bar.... First time at Otoro. It was unfortunate the Itamae were too busy to visit.... But Vindy picked up the slack and took care of me. I recommend the Spider and the Crunch Roll. I'll be back the next time I have business in town. Arigato, Ron

My favorite Japanese restaurant in the Santa Cruz area. They work hard to get you in—it’s a somewhat small place for the numbers coming for dinner. Food comes up quicker than I would expect, and presentation is always beautiful and enticing. The fish is so fresh and very nicely prepared. Chirashi is wonderful and bento box dinners are ample. Hope you find Otoro is a new favorite.

Dragon Roll (unagi) is amazing. everything was exceptional despite the fact that the place was completely packed. the wait to be seated was less than 5 minutes and wait for food was less than 15 minutes for 3 people. place is a must visit!

Still the best sushi anywhere in the area and better than Morimoto's Napa restaurant for a quarter of the price. You really can't beat it. Highly recommend the salmon belly sashimi.
Only 1 server for the entire place. It took a bit long to wait for the order to go.

I know you had fresh sushi! But, once you eat here, you will know the true difference between what you thought was fresh was not! The sushi I had here was the best I had in MY LIFE! As I walked in and took a seat at the bar ordered a hot sake I did not know the Chef behind the counter was going to change my world! I am not a person who is known her whole life to exaggerate! And my love for sushi among all other foods is at the top! I would not complain for the rest of my life, if I would be fed sushi for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks! I mean that much I love sushi! And because I have eaten at every place where I was suggested to try the sushi. This little place hidden here in Scotts Valley is my favorite place to eat sushi. And I hope they will remain just like that as they are for the rest of my life! Because I want to enjoy many years here their fabulous food. And no! I have no pictures this time! I had no time to take pictures. All I can say about the presentation was there were like an art work and was accompanied with orchid flowers, specially for the single lady who was eating at the bar alone. :) And I have to add also the amazing selection of their sake! I love hot sake with my sushi! As I was there, a sake vendor delivered the most delicious sake to the restaurant. As I type there words I swear I feel my mouth watering! I already am looking forward going back very soon.

This was a very tasty lunch spot. All the produce and meats were very fresh. For example, even the fruit cup garnish, which usually would be a bland afterthought, was filled with fresh and tasty fruit. The sushi and main dishes were similarly fresh and well cooked.
