I’ve been coming to Hennessey’s for a couple of years and generally enjoy it, which is why today stood out.
Stopped in around 2:45 PM for the Smashburger special and asked to sub a Beyond patty. I don’t love being charged extra for a vegetarian option, but I was fine with the $3 upgrade. What I wasn’t fine with was being told I had to pay $19 for the same burger everyone else was getting for $7. Meat costs more than a veggie patty, so the math ain’t mathin. That’s just bad business.
Old management allowed the Beyond upgrade. Supporting local should go both ways. Do better. 🙄

Nice neighborhood pub! Leans into comfort food. Can be loud when crowded or they have live entertainment. Small covered patio out front. Unusual for Seal Beach, they have their own dedicated parking lot.

I love a great bar, but Hennessey's fell short. I ordered the Citrus Salad, and it was not good. The dressing widely missed the mark, and it was a jumbled mess, with not much feta. The chicken on top was paper thin, like they horizontally sliced a breast in four pieces and this was a slice. It was dry and hard, just disappointing, especially for 19.5. Service was slow, and the restaurant was not very busy. Wouldn't go back.

I was surprised by the quality of their cocktails. Made from fresh juice! That means they are not overly sweet. Very good taste :)

Tuesday is 2 for 1 burger day! Love coming here after spending the day at the beach. Food is delicious. 2 Dublin burgers & a chicken sandwich on sourdough bread. I like their Onion Rings, very crispy!
