Really great customer service. There was a little wait, but it was busy. Totally understandable. Food was fresh & good size portioned. ?

Pretty consistent food, but some places the fish tacos are warmer than others for some reason. I never like to get a fish taco that does not seem like it was just cook. I seem to go between 3 or 4 of the Rubio's in the areaParking: Some locations (Seal Beach) the parking is crowded. Other locations like on Beach Boulevard or Golden West the parking seems to be abundant. The Costa Mesa location is a mess, but the manager is fabulous.

Yikes. I love Rubio's food, but this location consistently disappoints me. Tonight I placed an order on the app for pickup. Two of the items (impossible tacos) I ordered were not available so they subbed veggie tacos without asking me and did not even offer to refund the price difference. The veggie tacos were really disappointing too. The veggies were soggy to the point where I suspect that they use frozen veggies. I also ordered a bean and cheese burrito with Mexican rice. The burrito was tiny, so I opened the burrito and there was less than 2 tablespoons of beans. I couldn't even see any beans in the bean and cheese burrito, without ripping the burrito apart. Also, the guacamole I ordered as a side was so so salty - to the point of being inedible. It was not crowded at all, so I can't even imagine why the teenagers working the grill couldn't assemble a proper burrito. The food was expensive and the quality was awful - a really bad combo. I won't be going back to this location.

Poorly staffed. Cashier ( female Asian, Melanie??) aka server looked very overwhelmed. She didn't smile & appeared very stressed out. Didn't even ask if I wanted corn or flour tortilla. Waited at least 10-12 min for my fish taco combo. Pls hired extra help during a weekend.

I have tried to eat here on three separate occasions. I walk in, and I immediately have to quickly walk out because the smell of SEWAGE/restroom reeks into the whole restaurant!! I feel so bad for these workers. There must be some plumbing issue that is never resolved. Please do something about the sewage/restroom smell.

I often order my food for company lunch from their catering menu. Oscar and yhe staff at the Seal Beach location are always so helpful and accommodating.Parking: Parking can be quite challenging expected during the peak hours for lunch and dinner time.

Recently, Rubio's held a Fish Taco Battle, a competition amongst three different chefs, to come up with their newest taco that would be available on their menu for three weeks. Rubio's founder, Ralph Rubio, alongside three other judges, judged each taco and had a very difficult time to do so. After much deliberation, they crowned Cynthia P from Phoenix, AZ as the winner of this first ever fish taco contest. Cynthia's creation was the Coconut Shrimp Mango Salsa Taco, which involved a meticulously thought out concoction of different salsas and sauces to bring out a flavor explosion that would complement the crunchy coating of the shrimp very nicely. In a previous review of mine for a business not named Rubio's, I mentioned that my lunch plans were ruined one day. What I didn't mention is that they were ruined because I was originally planning to try these tacos only to find out they were not on their menu even though it was still within the three week period. Rubio's gave their rewards customers an invitation to try a plate of these tacos in the form of a $3 off coupon. I thought they were pulling my leg, but then, I got an email that said the sold out taco had made its way back on the menu, a testament as to how much of a fan favorite this taco had become in just a few days! I must be a tough judge or this Rubio's really let Cynthia down because these tacos made me wonder if the other two taco entries from the aforementioned Fish Taco Battle would have scored better from yours truly. I scheduled a pickup time for Sunday early evening, and my order was there when I arrived two minutes early. Looking at my bump ticket, it appears it was ready for pickup four minutes before my arrival, something to keep in mind on future visits, but unfortunately, there may not be one for this location. When I ordered online, I specified sides of Mexican Rice and No-Fried Pinto Beans with Cheese. The pinto beans with cheese were there, but the Mexican Rice was somehow replaced by chips? I could have brought this up to the front of house staff, but chose not to because I was okay with the mixup. What I wasn't okay with, however, was how a lot of the chips at the bottom were broken into smaller pieces! Most of the dining tables inside were unoccupied, probably because of how stuffy it was! Upon entering, it felt like we were right next to the kitchen even though the kitchen was at the very back. There wasn't A/C, but I decided to eat inside since it was a little chilly outside. I wanted to sit close to the salsa bar in case I wanted more salsa, which I did at one point. The salsa bar only has four troughs of salsa, two less than at the Lakewood location. I only needed one cup of mild salsa for the chips that suddenly appeared in my taco plate, having already specified tomatillo salsa in my online order. You can also request some cilantro/onions and jalapenos/carrots, which I also did hoping to use them on the Mexican rice. However, since I got no Mexican rice, I simply took them home to use for my dinner the next day. I took one bite of the battle-winning taco, and for a good two seconds, I knew why it had won. However, the outstanding taste disappeared since it appeared they skimped on the cilantro lime white sauce used to exemplify the taste profile of the taco. The remaining bites didn't see much of that sauce either, so I had to use the tomatillo salsa on the second taco. It did taste better, but it pretty much defeated the purpose of the mango salsa and the cilantro lime white sauce. The top layer of chips looked fine, a mix of regular chips and strips, but it had concealed the bottom layer of bits and pieces that were too small to properly dip into a cup of salsa. As a result, I had to drop these bits and pieces directly into the cup and use a fork, my lone utensil, to mix with the remainder of the salsa. If you order nachos from here, you better hope you don't have to eat them the way I did because that would be incredibly tedious! The pinto beans with cheese were okay, but lacked a

A little healthier quick service Mexican food. Choices of shrimp, fish, chicken, with more flavorful spices than typical. Popular for take out in the area. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, a Starbucks next door, and a nearby CVS, Ralph’s and Target.
