Sushi Hama is honestly the best sushi spot around here. It’s my go-to and still my all-time favorite in the area.
The fish quality is seriously so good — super fresh, clean, and just melts in your mouth. You can really tell they care about what they serve. The sashimi is a must. The cuts are thick and generous, and it just hits every time.
The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole vibe even better. And the portions? So generous. I always leave completely full and happy.
It’s also the perfect place to grab a glass of sake and just enjoy good food with friends. I’ve brought so many people here and it has never failed. Everyone ends up loving it.
You honestly can’t go wrong with anything, but the Langostino Roll is my absolute favorite. If you go, definitely get that — and don’t skip the sashimi.
Just try it. You won’t regret it. Trust me!!!

5/5!
Located in the heart of downtown Seal Beach, Sushi Hama is hands down the best sushi spot in the area. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place takes pride in every aspect of the experience.
From the food, to the atmosphere, to the service, everything was truly spectacular. The fish was exceptionally fresh and clearly top-tier in quality, with each piece prepared with care and attention to detail. Every bite was flavorful, well-balanced, and beautifully presented.
The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, making it a great spot whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal or a special night out. Parking is plentiful, which is a huge plus for a downtown location, and there is plenty of comfortable seating inside.
The food came out quickly without feeling rushed, and the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The owner is a true class act and goes out of his way to make sure every guest feels genuinely welcomed and appreciated.
If you are ever in the Seal Beach or Long Beach area, this is an absolute must-stop. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike who are looking for a go-to sushi spot with outstanding quality, service, and atmosphere. 🍣

What is Sushi hama based upon a recommendation from a friend. I ordered the omakase dish and it had a selection of sushi which we're all fresh and delicious.
My combination also came with some fried tempera, and that was delicious as well.
Overall, very pleasant dining experience. And I would highly recommend it.

13 bucks for this little pile of room temperature crap. Entire building is run down and ratty looking inside and out. Never again.

Decent little Japanese restaurant in the seal beach area. The highlight was a salmon skin salad that was bigger than expected with a delicious dressing. I had ordered Yakisoba but was informed 20 minutes later it was unavailable sadly. I tried the spicy miso ramen instead. It was super spicy. I love a good spicy dish but couldnt finish this because the heat. The noodles were very tasty in this dish . Husband had some hand rolls which he enjoyed. We also tried a squid geso which was alright . Would have been better with the traditional spice on it not the mayo they served it with. I would go back for the Salmon skin salad here .

I’ve had a lot of sushi over the years, but Sushi Hama truly stands out. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the care they put into everything — the space is warm and inviting, with a calm, relaxed vibe that immediately sets the tone for a great dining experience.
The sushi itself is outstanding. Every piece I tried was incredibly fresh — from the buttery salmon to the rich toro and delicately sweet scallop, each bite just melted in my mouth. You can tell they source their fish with intention and pride. What really impressed me was the sushi rice. It was seasoned perfectly — just the right balance of vinegar, slightly warm, and with that ideal texture that holds together without ever feeling dense or sticky. It’s something that often gets overlooked, but here, it shows how much the chef respects the craft.
The rolls were creative but never overdone — beautifully presented and balanced in flavor. I highly recommend the albacore special and the crispy rice with spicy tuna. Even the appetizers, like the miso cod and garlic edamame, were memorable.
What tied everything together was the service. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. Our server was knowledgeable, gave great recommendations, and you could feel that genuine hospitality that’s so rare these days. The chef even surprised us with a complimentary piece of sashimi that was probably one of the best bites of the night.
Sushi Hama isn’t trying to be flashy — it’s just quietly excellent in every way that matters. Great food, great people, and a place you’ll want to return to again and again. This is the kind of spot you tell your friends about — after you’ve made your next reservation.
(Food was so good that I forgot to take pictures… 🙄 oops)

The best avocado sushi I’ve ever had — and my absolute favorite noodle soup!💫🤍
Sadly, we moved away not long after this café opened, but we managed to visit a few times, and each time the food was incredibly delicious.
I look back on this place with so much warmth. It’s my favorite spot in Seal Beach, hands down.😍
