ROACHES! My bf and I stopped by for a late dinner on our way home to salinas. Everything was going so well enjoying our food until mid into finishing dinner we see a HUGE ROACH!!! The ROACH began to walk along the wall divider, starting from the table behind us passed our table and the table in front. Literally froze looking at the HUGE ROACH and didn't think to take a photo! Harumi is a restaurant located on a street where you may see homeless people. The Chicken Nabeyaki Udon soup, with chicken leg meat, udon noodles, and a bit of fake squid and diced seaweed, was found to be just alright by one customer, who noted that other Japanese restaurants include more vegetables and serve it in a cast iron pot. However, the restaurant has received praise for its fresh and delicious sushi. The salad and dressing are also highly regarded, and the bento box portions are described as large. The Katsu Don was considered to be on the sweet side, while the sweet potato fries were crispy and sweet. Desserts like the fried banana with ice cream are a must-try, although one customer experienced an issue with frozen cheesecake. The service at Harumi is noted as top-notch, with prompt and friendly staff who check on customers regularly. Despite having a good experience overall, one customer reported feeling physically ill after eating there on multiple occasions, despite having no known allergies.
