“Great food! Coming from Texas, I've never had the chance to go to halal Japanese restaurant before, and this place did not disappoint. The yakisoba noodles were delicious, and the beef in both them and the hibachi we ordered was flavorful and not too tough. My favorite item was the American Dream Roll, which is a deep fried eel sushi roll. I thought both the texture and flavor of it was superb, and the Rainbow Roll was good too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good Japanese place, and especially to Muslims that might not have had the chance to have Japanese food outside of sushi before!”

We’ve been here tons of times, but today when we went in, the service wasn’t the same, waitress seemed upset for some reason because I asked for extra avocado & I had to ask another waitress for some chips 20 minutes later because the original waitress never asked us if we needed anything else after they brought us our food. Besides that, food was delicious 👍🏿”

“This is a great place to grab a casual bite to eat — with amazing beer! We came with our kids and they all had a good time. The food was delicious and they even have unique and tasty mocktails. The outdoor space is nice and protected from the elements as it sits in the middle of the Carmel Plaza. We always love coming here and taking our friends visiting from out-of-town too!”

“We were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The garlic fries were an excellent start, followed by the pan seared salmon. Even the sides were delicious. Thanks to our server Eric, for the wonderful service. It's so nice to have such a good restaurant right in the hotel.

Update: Back for a second night because last night was so good. Had to have the Garlic Fries again. Oh my... so good! Then it was Chicken Carnitas Quesadilla and Fish and Chips. Excellent! Really good. We went for dessert tonight. Turtle Cheesecake. Oh my!!! We may have to have it again before we leave. Thanks Eric!!! You are the best! So glad you had our table again. Thank you for your kindness!!!”

“This is a special place. They take their time to make perfect cups of coffee. It's not pretentious about it at all, either. You can go as fancy or as basic as you want. Every cup will be given the same level of artisanal care. Less a coffee house, more a place to remember the joy of drinking coffee outside of its mundane role as a motivator in our lives. “Picked up food to go last year and it was really good. So happy that we found this place again! Ordered garlic parm and spicy fried chicken wing plates, lemongrass chicken and beef meatball pho. Also ordered strawberry and melon boba milk tea and Vietnamese coffee with egg cream. Food and drinks came out quickly. Customer service was great. It was so good that we ate and drank everything! We will definitely come here again when we’re in the area.”

“If you’re looking for a pizza spot that absolutely knocks it out of the park, this is it. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely excited to help us pick out what to try. You can tell they really care about their customers and their food.
The menu had so many amazing sounding options that we couldn’t decide… so we didn’t, we ordered three different pizzas and I’m so glad we did! Every single one was fantastic.

The Sophia was a dream if you love white sauce pizza — creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced without being too heavy. The Golden State was one of the most unique pizzas I’ve had in the best way possible. Every bite had something interesting going on and who knew pizza and potatoes just work so well together.
But the absolute star for me was the special “La Bomba.” WOW. The Calabrian chili gave it the perfect kick and depth of flavor. It was bold, a little spicy, and completely addictive. I would honestly come back time and time again just for that pizza alone.
They have a unique crust was perfectly cooked crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside — and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully put together, not just thrown on a pie.
The place itself has a great vibe, good service, and the staff makes the whole experience feel welcoming and fun. Whether you’re dining in with friends or grabbing a pizza to go, this place checks every box: great service, creative menu, amazing flavor, and pizza you’ll be thinking about long after you leave.

“Lupita's strikes again! Once again, completely delicious food! The quality of their food is so good that you won't feel that yucky takeout feeling after eating there! You will feel like your Mexican mom made you a batch of rice and beans! The key is their oaxacan roots! I love how they make their quesadillas with like a thick masa. The tamales are bomb, masa is seasoned correctly and then the fillings are so good. we love the chicken mole ones but also like the rajas and the salsa verde. Today we branched out to try their tortas and new burrito bowls. outstanding! Ask for some Oaxacan cheese on your burrito bowl! Okay, now the bakery... There is always a debate on who has the best donuts on the Monterey Peninsula, I always hear about the donut places, but for me Lupita's is the best. their donut is substantial and then the chocolate on top is decadent! I really keep saying, who would go to any sole donut shop when you can get so much variety here? Donuts, donut holes, cakes, cookies, pan dulce! and my ultimate favorite... a loaf of morning glory bread!!! Like a carrot cake bread with oats! trust me! super delicious! Lastly, they are super friendly! I love their staff! I am currently working with them to do custom donuts for my son's upcoming birthday! They are always willing to work with their customers to make them happy!”

Small place so seating is limited.”

“SO GOOD and good portions. This is the eggplant special - fried tofu, mushrooms, grilled onions, eggplant and rice. It comes doused in teriyaki sauce and they also include some chimichuri and hot sauce. Everything about it is good.

There is no seating, and accept cash only. No matter. Well worth it, I'll be back.”

“My family and I have been coming to The Orient for over 10 years. This place is the best. It's run by the same family and the deliciousness of their food hasn't changed either. The beef Pho is great, best around I think. I really like their fried rice, salt pepper squid and egg foo young. Pretty much everything here is good. Their lunch specials are deal too.”

“This location has a sign out front that states it's closed until further notice and should be treated as such. The Paris Bakery in Monterey is open and has a very nice Almond Croissant. However, the Seaside location is closed. I've submitted an edit to it's hours.”
