“I have been going here for a few years now. The cakes are absolutely delicious! We have a lot of March birthdays and our favorite flavor is the lemon cake with raspberry preserves. The owner is very kind and they always pull off any decoration that I want. Would recommend 10/10!!!“
“Hands down my favorite coffee spot in the area. It's a small spot but they roast all of their own beans & also spotlight some local bakeries (reds donuts & Parker-Lusseau). If you want something slightly sweet try their Vietnamese iced coffee or add honey to your latte. Note this is not a spot you can work at or really hangout at other than at the standing high tops.“
“Didn't get any food because I got there less than an hour before closing time. My server was super chill and she wasn't annoyed that she had to stay open a little later to tend to my cousin and his fiance. Definitely recommend number 10- “
“A too rare case of what a true, nearly extinct classic neighborhood dive bar should be. Ages 21 to 70+ in equal numbers. Full crowd most evenings but I most always found a barstool. Tonight a live duo backing up piped in karaoke. Dogs allowed. The last old school bar left in the Monterey area unfortunately, that I am aware of.“
“It was my first visit there. We ordered takeout dinners: grilled Tilapia with black-eyed peas & collard greens and Catfish dinner with collards and potato salad. The food was excellent! Well-seasoned; not full of sodium nor greasy. We will definitely be returning.“
“If you're looking for some decent Mexican food for a decent price, this is a decent option. It's definitely not the best Mexican place around, but it's also far from the worst. Same goes for price: affordable but not dirt cheap. The food here isn't anything to write home about; that is, the meat isn't the greatest quality and the portion sizes are a little small. However, the flavor is good. The beans are hit or miss since they sometimes come out a little cold. Also, if it gets busy (not very common), it's a good idea to know how to speak a little Spanish. The servers are pretty nice but they sometimes seem like they're rushing the customer a little. Atmosphere is great; no complaints here.I order a different thing every time I come here (four times so far) since none of the individual items I've tried have stood out to me as amazing. Coming from San Diego, I know what to look for when ordering top-notch Mexican. This place hasn't hit that mark yet for me.Parking: This place doesn't have a good selection of parking. I recommend parking on the street to the right of it.“
“The food was ok, but we probably won’t go back. We come to the area multiple times a year and try to go to more local places and this came up on our search for clam chowder not on Fisherman’s Wharf. My husband said the chowder was so-so, but the fish and chips were fantastic. The fries were good. I had the alfredo and that was pretty delicious but the garlic bread was a huge let down, kind of tasted old and gummy. Also my daughter also got Alfredo but hers looked and tasted much different than mine, which is odd. The restaurant itself could probably fit 5-10 more tables comfortably, and because it was so sparse it kind of feels off-putting, I guess, and there was only one table that could sit our family of 6. It was also very affordable, but the menu stated they charge for water, which is odd. They also charge for use of a credit card. Food took a little longer than normal to get to us, and there was only one waitress so service was a bit slow. I watched five people walk in and leave because they didn’t want to wait to be seated. Another party got up and grabbed their own menus. So, I don’t know if we’ll go back. It’s a hard maybe. The things that weren’t good, like the garlic bread, is a big deal. But that’s the cheapest meal I think we’ve ever had in the area so maybe we’ll go back and try other things and give it another shot. Not sure yet.“
“Fantastic French cafe eats and coffee drinks. The setting is so Van Gogh. Perhaps it has views of the water from the unaccessible upper floors but it’s a quaint little place and is part of Monterey’s eclectic make-up. If you have a B’day coming up their French cakes are divine too.“
“The sort of place you stumble upon, then wonder why everyone isn’t talking about it.The food was divine. A perfect mix of flavours and delicately executed. I especially recommend the Yellowtail Crudo to start, and the lemon olive oil cake to finish. You might struggle to park but there aren’t many better places to eat in Monterey than this!Parking: On site, around the back“
“Great food. We went to the aquarium and decided to bail out to get food. The aquarium has less than stellar options so I recommend coming here. Service was a bit slow but it was still worth coming here as the food was actually cheaper and better. They also have heated outdoor benches which was quite a surprise ?“
“Absolutely LOVE this place. I had the crab and shrimp omelette with a Lou Mosa. I would recommend you come early so you can enjoy your breakfast with a beautiful view. Best Breakfast in Monterey!!!! The atmosphere is fun and warm and exciting every time I come.“
“This is a place I always recommend to my vegan and vegetarian friends. One of my favorite things to do is order food to go and take it just down the way to Asilomar Beach! I only have great memories of Julias. I miss how it used to look inside under previous ownership, but still a great atmosphere! I'm not sure if they still have outside seating but I loved that feature as well. It's not easy to find a great vegan/vegetarian restaurant.Thank you so much for the wonderful food and service!“
“We love coming to Pacific Grove and when traveling with kids it is hard to find a place with something to keep everyone happy. They gave us a cute table outside in the beautiful weather. The wagyu burger was great and the onion rings are some of the best we have ever had! We even came back the next day for some more. The Pizza was delicious and pasta and salads were great and fresh. Get the focaccia bread as an appetizer and you can’t go wrong. We will be back!“
“The owner, Brent, is clearly very invested in the experience of his customers. It is obvious he is involved with the day to day operations and his employees are happy. Brent was very friendly and genuine. Could not have asked for a better place to hangout and have a couple drinks!“
“Old school, old school, old school is all I can say! 35 year successful establishment with the owner on the premises and hands on. His brothers are the chefs. True, classic Italian family run restaurant. Food is traditional and the clam chowder unreal. The owner will talk your ear off, so be careful! Great experience. They truly care. This is a serious restaurant, not a tourist trap.“
“Super friendly, cozy little family café. Really good lunches and breakfasts, staff is a father, daughter and son-in-law, all care about the place the food, and the customers. They treat everyone like family. The day I was there they were playing Christian rock the whole time, but somehow with the amount of love and kindness exhibited by the Cafe community, that it was not really my thing didn't bother me at all. It was still happy and friendly music. Good coffee, good food, clean restrooms, good wifi, excellent care of people.“
“Nice ambiance, good selection on tap. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The bar itself doesn't have food options, but there's a taco truck in the outside dining area that does, and you can bring the food into the bar itself. Can be a little loud/crowded on a weekend.“
“The food was good, and so was the White Chocolate Mochas, but there seemed to be a lot going on in the prep area, but not so much as in the dining (interior/exterior) area. Also pretty pricey for breakfast, two crepes & two White Chocolate Mochas was over $50.“
“A true family run restaurant that serves great food. You know it's good when most customers are locals. We had dinner, I had the filet of sole and husband had the steak. Both entrees were delicious. We will be back to try their breakfast next trip.“
“Super cool local brewery. We discovered this place a few weeks ago because we had dinner plans nearby. The owner, Joseph, was super nice and took great care of us. They have a variety of beers and we tried a flight! This is a nice place to go if you want to have some beer without the crowds!“
“Chili relleno is delish. Chili verde taco was so good. Also ordered a baby chicken burrito which was huge and very good. Customer service was on point, polite, pleasant, and the outdoor dining on this beautiful day completed the great meal. Causal. Worth the stop when you drive by.“
“Before, I had never noticed the BobaLicious truck on the side of the Exxon gas station, but a classmate of mine from CSUMB recommended me to try it since I love boba! I tried their matcha green tea latte and have been coming back ever since! It's the perfect taste, not too strong or too sweet! The owner is really friendly, he stated that he is now opening up an actual BobaLicious shop in a few weeks on 474 Tyler street! I highly recommend coming here, way better than T-Zone boba in downtown Monterey!“
“A friend recommended this place and it sure exceeded expectations. Wait staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast portions were were large, and my husband and I could have split something if we could have agreed on what to eat. Hollandaise sauce was spot on, NOT fake cheesy sauce. Took home leftovers. And the sweets looked so yummy. May have to go back this evening to pick up dessert.“
“Nice little wine bar with small bites in the Cannery Row area. They had some nice wine choices and beers. Charcuterie and flatbreads and other snacks. Wine flights in test tubes which looked a bit bizarre but was popular! Good service with only one person working when I went. I went with a glass of their Brut which was slightly sweet for me , and their sourdough pretzel with Dijon mustard. The pretzel was nice and warm and the mustard had a great kick. Nice little gifts available too. I liked that it had groups and just solos having a glass of vino at the end of the day. Cozy feel.“
“Loved the selection of food here. We came for breakfast but just missed it. But we were not disappointed by the lunch items. Chips and salsa were good. We couldn't stop eating them. I got the crab and shrimp enchiladas. A bit heavy but good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their orders. It was a nice change from the typical fancy restaurants we've been having in Carmel for something a bit more casual but still satisfying.“
“Review for the complimentary breakfast 8/10The service is excellent and attentive. The food was delicious and the frittata was excellent. Ambiance it was very aesthetically pleasing. Overall the hotel was nice and the food was awesome.More food stuff @vin.foodjournal“
“If you are visiting the area, this is a must stop place. It is my favorite restaurant in the county. Every ingredient in every dish is intentionally used, there are no lazily picked side dishes here. The small restaurant is very charming and half of their seating is outside, well covered and heated nicely. Make sure to make a reservation!“
“Amazing food with lots of different options to try, like grasshoppers. The chef is vegan, and there are lots of options for all types, carnivore, vegetarian, and vegan. Very unique and well paired flavors.Vegetarian options: Really amazing vegetarian options and flavors“
“Awesome little place in Pacific Grove near the beach. I ordered the Salmon and Potato Pancake and think it was prob the single best breakfast meal I've ever had! Smoked salmon + potato pancake + crème fraiche. I also added a fried egg on top. We will def be back“
“Was so good, went by twice while in Carmel for a wedding. Saturday. got there by 9am, display cases appeared fully stocked of everything. Sunday, got there by 10am, a few items were sold out. We got what we wanted, but still! The mocha actually had a rich chocolate flavor (compared to bucks) Love how they carry mini pastries which are the perfect size to share and taste and try variety!!!! Well priced, cheaper than SF.“
“Delicious dinner, stared with crab cakes, very flavourful lots of crab (not filled with breadcrumbs), lobster ravioli was amazing. Osso Bucco was hearty and delicious, finished off with Tiramisu. Great dinner topped off with a lovely conversation with the owne. Highly recommend when in Carmel. Lots of locals seem to dine here.“
“I was undecided between the breakfast quesadilla and a benedict. The server, Azeneth, informed me that Wave is renowned for its holiday sauce, so I opted for the heirloom tomato and basil benedict. I requested it with bacon but ultimately removed it. It was exceptionally delectable! I also ordered a caramel latte, which was of exceptional quality, suggesting that they source their coffee locally from a reputable brand. Azeneth provided attentive service throughout my meal. The restaurant is situated in Monterey, directly on the beach, offering a picturesque setting. I indulged in a delightful Italian fillo. If you are considering a breakfast visit, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment.Parking: There are a few complimentary parking spaces available at the restaurant's location.“
“Be careful... the food is good and the portions are huge!We went for Sunday Brunch and laughter floated through the air. It felt like everyone—patrons and staff—were having a great time. There's a big indoor and outdoor space, they're both gorgeous, and they have a coffee and cocktail bar to help pass the time while you wait for your table. We'd definitely come back.Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian sausage which I didn't have, but my partner did and said it was delicious.“
“I had dinner here for the first time last May. I love schnitzel; and the schnitzel tasted incredible at this place! The Swiss Matterhorn dessert was heavenly! I hope to bring my dad here soon. I will definitely try the cheese fondue next time.“
“What a find. Walking distance from our hotel, lovely place and staff. Delicious Greek and Italian food. We had the bolognese and the lamb. So much food! Could not even finish it. Great wine pour. Can’t add photos. Ate it all including the complementary desert bite.“
“Super fun, classy hotdog and shake joint, in a surf/skate shack styling w/ a really nice patio area. Great food; the "tangy slaw" was a masterful, coarse chopped, mixture of red and green cabbage. The house chili was very good...if I recall it was the "Reefs" dog. The shakes we tried were great; quite impressed with the blackberry and also by the sheer number of offerings. The place just has good vibes; very friendly staff and (regular) customers alike. ...I must have been too tired to notice Kimchi on the menu before ordering and was a little heartbroken (until next time) hearing that it can be added to any menu item.“
“The wines were great and fairly priced. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We had two babies accompanying our party, and there was no problem bringing them. Kid friendly! We ordered the charcuterie and cheese board and it left something to be desired. We were not impressed but what we were given still tasted good.“
“Little Napoli is a pretty nice Italian spot in Carmel. The service is pretty solid, the food is good, and the setting is quite nice. One thing I’d definitely recommend is to get a reservation, though. Me and my girlfriend were able to get a seat, but only at the open bar, after waiting for some people to leave. It was a bit stressful, but it was still nice to grab a bite to eat here.“
“Never in my life have I ever thought I'd see the live long day I would eat a raw sweet potato but then I went to Alta Cafe in Monterey and ordered a Grain* Bowl. The menu listed sweet taters in it and I'm a sweet tato felon. But to my surprise and eventual delight that sucker RAW. Never have I felt more raw vegan Cali girl Stanley cup life style than then and I fear I may never feel that way again ?. Also the coffee cold brew had coffee ice cubes that was awesome good job guys .and the ginger scone was yummy. And the salmon toast was yummy too.*Quinoa bowl excuse meVegetarian options: So many it's crazy. Raw tatosKid-friendliness: You could fit So many of those suckers in there“
“It was their Traditional Yerba Mate service that caught our attention and then coincidentally reading a little of their backstory brought us in. Once settled, we instantly felt at home and couldn't have enjoyed our visit(s) more. Clearly locals love the spot for its relaxed atmosphere and food...Ok I mean absolutely fantastic food. You simply have to try all their empanadas, the mind-blowing Sopa and Lemon Delight. Don't miss out on their gem offering... Yerba Mate!Mate: really is a way of life (relaxed). It takes a little time, make the time, it's so worth it. The staff were surprised/delighted by my order of a traditional (hot) Mate service, and the owner came out with an exuberant "You're drinking Mate!?!" We had a nice conversation about the ritual of drinking Mate, Paraguay and some of her experiences with the cafe. Our second visit though, led to a lengthy discussion with a knowledgeable staff member about more advanced techniques for Yerba Mate preparation, character of the various brands, etc...I've been casually enjoying Mate for twenty years and still came away with a better understanding. They're so kind and pleasant, you'll enjoy the experience whether you're a newbie needing to be walked through the process or a budding connoisseur.“
“This place is small but the food and the customer service were phenomenal. Great first impression with everything. If we do go back to monterey , you best believe we will be back to Keiki's. We would have gone again but they are closed on weekends. At least the weekend we were there.“
“Such a cute little place, loved everything about it.First the ambiance was very organic and chic, small, cozy but never felt cramped. Clean, earthy wholesome. The staff was super friendly, and lovely. The food fantastic, very generous portions and the mimosas excellent.“
“I felt slightly awkward at first but it was a very enjoyable experience the owners greeted us and explained everything, we sat across from the bar .the bartender from France was very entertaining. It was a very nice environment and great service. I would definitely go back, great spot if you’re passing through Carmel on the 1.“
“Great views, food and drinks. In a clear sunny day you can see point lobos and pacific ocean and Carmel Valley hills. The 9th hole executive course is beautiful and well manicured. The hostess was no where to be found so the waiter, I wish I could remember his name, but he was a young Asian male with a tattoo on his hand was awesome. He checked us in, cleaned and readied a table and sat us. He also came to get us drink orders and served water several time. He deserves many kudos and recognition!“
“Absolutely divine experience at Reba's Bakery! The chocolate chocolate cake was pure decadence – each layer exquisitely moist, and the double chocolate brownie, dense and rich, was a true indulgence. We also ventured into some unique treats like the peanut butter jelly bar and the cinnamon doughnut hole muffins, each bursting with flavor. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth craving perfection! 5 stars all the way! ??“
“A warm and welcoming restaurant a short walk from the main drag in Carmel. The menu changes each time we visit and tends to be more innovative with seasonal fish, cross cultural influences and less used cuts and types of meat. It’s a contrast from other local restaurants as while other restaurants work to emulate various European cuisines this restaurant is just itself. The exposed brick and cozy interior create an intimate experience and compliments the meal. Personally we make a point of coming to this restaurant every time we are in Carmel because during a holiday weekend in the pandemic they sat us and stayed late when no one else in town would serve us. Will be back.“
“This was a fun find we stumbled upon. The donuts were super tasty and made to order. We had a blood orange, tangerine cardamom, and vanilla bean. They were all delicious, but blood orange was the best. Most fun though was watching them make our donuts and more at the window. Great fun for kids.Kid-friendliness: Watch donuts made while you wait!“
“Wow! This place is excellent. Super delicious, healthy, clean food. The folks that work here are super nice and they totally care about the awesomeness they're providing. It's just a very special spot that's really well done and a pleasure to have discovered!“
“Best juices & smoothies in town! I never knew I could taste if an ingredient is fresh when it's blended or juiced till now. Yes I could make my own smoothie at home but it just isn't the same Make sure to sign up for their rewards program! Worth every penny.“
“Love this little place! Replaces all of our breakfast places for Monterey. Yummy breakfast for most palates, AND I added a roasted jalapeño. The coffee was good. The chef was amazing both times that we went there. But the restaurant is small and thrown together. I only care about the yummy food.Parking: There were a few street spots. Too many other customers, and I would be searching for a spot.“
