“The restaurant has a very nice view of the ocean in a cozy place. You can expect a few minutes waiting for a table if you come in a peak hour, so I recommend stopping by early to get a nice spot. The food was good and prices are high, compatible with the place.“

“We unfortunately got stuck here on Hwy 1. , N and S both ways -due to mud slide- have been blocked today . We ended up visiting 3 different restaurants near by, and first 2 were over priced yet super busy and not sure about the attitude we received was kind enough. I really do appreciate the kindness and the good quality food & service we received from this beautiful restaurant. Not sure if I am coming back to Big Sur area again but I live in LA so I am definitely recommending this beautiful place . Please do yourself a favor and order the beet salad ! Make sure to crown your dining experience with a scrumptious dessert ? ?Dietary restrictions: I appreciate the vegetarian and seafood dishes !! As a Mediterranean, I am not into eating bacon, sausage etc ? Need to come back for breakfast for sure !Kid-friendliness: They offer pasta for kids, fresh squeezed OJ is yummy !!“

“THE place to stop by on one’s trip to Big Sur. A lovely building perched on the other side of highway 1 hugged by the surrounding nature. The first floor is an artful gallery/gift shop space and the terrace above overlooks the ocean - is there a better place to sit down and enjoy a beautiful lunch? We were all the more impressed by the food itself. A very fun adventure to try and taste all the items in the ensemble of mezze lunch bowl - lettuce so fresh as if just picked from the ground, radish hummus so good that we purchased a box afterwards to go. Loved the brokaw avocado sandwich as well - perfect seeded bread paired with unique and delicious spread consisting of ricotta and sweet potato. Look forward to coming back again!“

“Close to the campsite we were staying at, this looked like a nice place to get dinner. I wasn't hungry but at the same time, I wasn't sure what time breakfast was going to be the next day. I ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich which had chips and a pickle. For a drink I ordered a light beer. My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla and a rootbeer. The vibe is definitely a cabin feel the rain outside made it feel like that even more.“

“Big Sur Roadhouse is one of my favorite gems I found during my stay in the area. It's located onsite the Glen Oaks Lodge, which is what brought me in the doors. Its mid-mod design and friendly staff brought me back. I came in initially for the complimentary coffee and donut that's included in the stay at Glen Oaks. I realized I probably needed more sustenance than that for a day of hiking, so I ordered the breakfast sandwich and a macchiato. The macchiato was perfect, and I love that they have the proper mugs for this drink. The breakfast sandwich took a while to come out but it was delicious and I was so glad I didn't miss it. The maple butter really elevates it to another level. I also had the glazed coconut donut, which was divine with the coffee. The ambiance here is cozy mountain meets mid century modern. Some of the furniture here had my collectors heart skipping a beat. They renovated 9 years ago and did an excellent job. The tables are original, and I love that they kept this piece of the past that fits so well in the new aesthetic. Come for the vibes. Stay for the most reasonable prices in the area, delicious food, and friendly staff.“

“Staying at the Alila Ventana again allows us to dine breakfast, second breakfast if you're a hobbit, lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Yes we could leave the resort for dining but one it's inclusive (minus alcohol) and two it's simply a fantastic restaurant on all fronts. The outside patio is the primary seating area and gives you a great view of the Pacific and the lush green hillsides of Big Sur. On a sunny day you might be lucky to see a California Condor gliding the thermals. This stay in March had a bit of cold weather and on night two dinner was held inside the restaurant, a first for us. Redwood furnishings all around and a huge fireplace adorn the inside. The food is epic of course. Staying two nights allowed us to sample more of the menu which features locally sourced ingredients. Here's what we had: Breakfast-Granola and yogurt, avocado toast, Ventana breakfast, chorizo scramble, French toast, crispy rice, fresh berries, juice and smoothies of the day. Lunch-Churassco with shrimp topping, fish of the day ( swordfish and ahi), fish tacos, burger, gem & kale salad, habanero wings, hummus with pita bread, and guacamole with chips. Dinner-bucatini cacio e pepe, camapnelle, black cod, rigatoni all'amatriciana, Iberia pork chop, and beef tenderloin. I ordered old fashioned's. Special kudos to Arkangel who served us twice during our stay. Arkangel was very welcoming and he gave some fantastic hints for the restaurant namely, if you order the lunch churassco, top it off with shrimp and then at the Social Hour for the complementary Marine Layer drink, have the bartender place your glasses side by side so that when he creates the smoke bubble it actually forms a rainbow shape. See my pictures! Dining here is just a complete 5 star experience!“
“Rustic and a little pricey for the bare-bones digs, but an excellent hub for exploring the area. Bed is comfortable and electric heat works. In-room coffee is horrible - but the adjacent restaurant is great for every meal. Wifi is decent, important since the whole region is a notorious dead zone.Food & drinks: The adjacent restaurant/bar is excellent.“

“Loved the selection of food here. We came for breakfast but just missed it. But we were not disappointed by the lunch items. Chips and salsa were good. We couldn't stop eating them. I got the crab and shrimp enchiladas. A bit heavy but good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their orders. It was a nice change from the typical fancy restaurants we've been having in Carmel for something a bit more casual but still satisfying.“

“Chili relleno is delish. Chili verde taco was so good. Also ordered a baby chicken burrito which was huge and very good. Customer service was on point, polite, pleasant, and the outdoor dining on this beautiful day completed the great meal. Causal. Worth the stop when you drive by.“
“The wines were great and fairly priced. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We had two babies accompanying our party, and there was no problem bringing them. Kid friendly! We ordered the charcuterie and cheese board and it left something to be desired. We were not impressed but what we were given still tasted good.“
“Every single wine at the tasting was awesome - that never happens, but here it does. Moreover the actual wine maker, Adrian, is here and not only pours the wine but happily talks about the how's, why's, etc of making the wine.Such a personal friendly experience.“

“If you are visiting the area, this is a must stop place. It is my favorite restaurant in the county. Every ingredient in every dish is intentionally used, there are no lazily picked side dishes here. The small restaurant is very charming and half of their seating is outside, well covered and heated nicely. Make sure to make a reservation!“
“It is a beautiful tasting room to begin with. The wines were excellent and well explained to us by Grace the manager. Walked out with two bottles only because we wanted to save some for the next wine tasters! We will be back. Grace also gave us recommendations for other wineries and restaurants, which is always helpful!“

“The restaurant has a pleasant decor and an extensive menu. There are a lot of raw items that my wife thought were very good and fresh. I had a pork, kimchi stew which was spicey and flavorful. The wine list was fair and the saki list could use a few additions. The decor is very nice. Service was good. We will be back.“

“Like finding a four leaf clover or a petroglyph that no one else has seen, I want this restaurant to remain hidden only for the seekers of rare joy and wonderment. Is the food delicious? Yes!! Is the site historic? Another yes! Is the decor delightfully kitsch and yet cozy and inviting? Another resounding yes! If you enjoy comforting food at very reasonable prices (especially in Big Sur) and top notch service, then this is your place. Come here for a romantic dinner and then come back to enjoy breakfast with the best hollandaise sauce ever! Just please, only spread the word to people who will appreciate the experience.“
