La Tortuga food is amazing and their bakery / cakes are phenomenal
Great food. Delicious taste . The food actually has flavor
I am a local from Monterey and I've enjoyed this establishment since childhood. Their food is so tasteful and memorable. They truly integrate the Oaxacan culture into their food, keeping it as authentic as possible.
My favorite thing I love to order that I would recommend would be their chicken mole or tortas. Their pastels (cakes) are very delicious as well. Top restaurant I would personally recommend in Monterey
Incredible, soul-filling food. Really attentive and friendly staff and owner. Glad we stopped here on our trip up the coast!

Love this place.
1) California burrito
2) El molcajete (sufficient for 2 ppl)
3) forgot the name but shredded chicken sandwich (something torta) is really good too.
Desert options (all in all very healthy calorie bomb place)

Can’t give enough props to the staff here especially for an out of towner. I felt VERY welcome. I came for the menudo which was fabulous and am leaving stuffed. ??

Before the food was better, I didn't like the very simple Puerto leg fatties. My tlayuda came out with a piece of plastic, the Jamaican water is very bad, it is dusty and without flavor.?

Great find during our visit to Monterey. We tried the beef milanesa and the cuban tortas and they were both really good. The milanesa had some bits that were too over cooked and felt like it was just breading and no meat (mostly on edges) but the taste was great. Staff was friendly and they did review our order with us a couple of times for items we didn’t want on the torta but they still got order wrong. Overall good experience and would definitely visit again

The cashier told me that the tlayuda costs $24, from what I know all the tlaydas are large and they gave me this one, the bean paste and the cold chorizo and the tortilla was not toasted, it was runny ? it's the size of a tortilla arina
It's the worst tlayuda I've ever eaten...

Only one or two vegetarian options which was a bummer.
The fish in the fish taco was still frozen.
We could tell it was a good and well known place, all the diners in the restaurant were locals, but sadly we were disappointed.
Vegetarian options: One option of cactus burrito and one option of cheese quesadilla. Thats about it, on a three page menu.
