I used to visit Casa Vega almost weekly for a period about 15 years ago. Finally came back and the ambiance and service are still very much there. The food is, of course, delicious! Looking forward to experiencing the new back patio when it's done!
The food was very good and was the highlight of our evening. We enjoyed the tableside guacamole preparation and I was very pleased with the steak fajita. We were there on a Saturday night and it was noisy. While this did not happen to us, it appeared that patrons at other tables were being hurried to leave after finishing eating; on the other hand, we felt no pressure to leave and actually spent almost two hours at our table.
Been coming here for over 40 years. The food is awesome and it still is. But as prices get higher and portions get smaller, things don't always change for the better. The music inside is now louder making harder to hear your companions. The din from people is already loud as far as noise. The prices got even higher this year. Used to get the famous tostada salad with your dinner. No more. Now you have to pay extra for it. VERY disappointing. Our server, Marco was very nice. But it felt like he did not know the menu well, or he could not hear well over the din of people and the loud music. I specifically wanted that salad, and ordered it as a separate dish. It is on the menu and supposed to be a larger version of the dinner salad. It was not, and it was expensive. I've had it before and it was larger. I don't know if it was Marco's hearing or not understanding the order, or if this is a sign of waning quality and service. We'll go back again soon, but if it is the same again; we probably won't come back anytime soon. It is really awful when a place like this that you have been going to for so long feels like it's going down the drain. I really hope that is not the case; especially since it's been here for so many years. Great food, but make sure you have a lot of $$ in your pocket.
Always a fabulous experience - the drinks are great the menu varied and delicious and the staff is amazing
Can't ever go wring with the Cadillac and the lobster enchiladas! Husband disabled and everyone was so thoughtful! From hostess to parking attendant. Thanks!
I am saddened to have to give an unfavorable review. We have eaten here many times. It has always been reliable for really good food and great service. This visit was not up to Casa Vega standards that the 80 year legacy has always been known for. We ordered the chile con queso appetizer. Normally, the chips are delicious but this time they were bendy and stuck in my teeth. If you know the word mookie you know what I'm trying to explain. I had the carnitas and they were inedible- DRY and no flavor. My friend had the shrimp and it was ok. I am hoping it was just an off night as I have always loved Casa Vega
The service was pretty bad. We were there for over 2hrs and I was only able To have one refill after chasing him down to get his attention. We barely saw the server at all through dinner. He took our order, delivered our food and asked if we wanted dessert. We had 6 people at our table ordering dinner and drinks.
Literally the worst dining experience I've had in a long time, server was the worst, food was cold and terrible, bathroom was dirty and a disaster, put down birthday on my reservation, no acknowledgment on that either, will never ever return
The food is always good here. The price is crazy high (2 burritos and 2 regular margaritas rinds over $100, plus tip, plus tax plus parking) but at least the food is good. The service this time was non-existent. Had to get someone to find our waiter after a 1/2 hour wait. The last time I ordered a burrito, I took 1/2 home because it was so big. This time, it seemed noticeably smaller. Their chips are good, salsa is quite spicy. Drinks are pretty much standard. . Valet parking only unless you are lucky to grab one on the street..
They changed everything! Not what it was. Prices went up + food went down. Been going to Casa Vega my entire life and won't return after last nights experience 🥲

I have loved going to Casa Vega for over 50 years! When I lived in San Francisco, I would have to go to Casa Vega whenever I visited the Los Angeles Area. When I moved back to Los Angeles and settled in the West Valley, I definitely made it a point to go to Casa Vega with friends once or twice a year. . You could count on Casa Vega's consistent great food and wonderful Margaritas. It had been a year since my last visit and I so looked forward to eating there again. I was so disappointed to see the restaurant had gone downhill. I expect to pay more for food these days however I expected to have the same wonderful food options and portions. Love the Chiquita Salad and get that with one taco but the server told us Casa Vega no longer allows tacos to be ordered a la carte. Our server told us that the Chiquita Salad could be order with a dinner for $7.00 however when my friend ordered 2 Chiquita Salads, the bill came to $17.00 for each salad. Our group had order 5 dinners so there was no reason the two salads could not have been included with 2 of these dinners. When we brought this to the server's attention, he did not offer to correct the bill although he never said the cost would be $17.00 per salad when my friend ordered. Though the server was pleasant, he never returned to see how the food was and he took quite a while to get back to us with the bill. The wonderful Margaritas are no longer wonderful. A minimal amount of tequila was in the Margarita. Additionally the glass for the Margarita was considerably smaller than it had been in the past. It seems Casa Vega has decided to have small sizes for the water glasses, plates and salsa bowls, (so we had to ask a nearby waiter if we could get more salsa.) There are wonderful Mexican Restaurants in the West San Fernando Valley so after this disappointing experience, I will no longer go to Casa Vega.
Haven't been to Casa Vega in a long while. It's still got a great vibe to it. The Christmas decorations are up and it feels super festive. The charm of the red booths also gets me every time. Our server was great and the food was pretty good, if a little on the pricey side. But everything is pricey now, right? I'll be back sooner rather than later.
I hadn't dined here for a few years but needed a local place that stayed open past 9 o'clock on a weeknight. There were five of us. We were seated promptly, but everything after that disappointed. I could go into detail but to sum it up: the food was simply okay, it was overpriced for the portion size, and service was poor--we had to continually flag down a waiter to get any attention at all. My opinion is shared by the four who dined with me. I do not plan to return.
Margaritas were great, vibe was fantastic. The food was pretty good, a little overpriced though compared to similar restaurants
very nice, authentic, great food. service was good. margaritas served in individual steel containers, nice touch.
