Super delicious Omakase experience! I'd definitely like to go back on a week night for a few rolls. We did a double date here the other night and there was a mixup with our order and we waited a long time but they made it right. I definitely recommend the Omakase experience! My favorite was the nigiri and sashimi. Super fresh and all the details on top of the fish were delicious. Creamy caviar at one point ! This place is in a busy area, so parking is hard, get there early! I appreciate the upscale vibe in the midst of a lot of restaurants, its stands apart!

Delicious food, but an incongruous and unaligned experience, especially at this price point. Came here for a double date night last night (Saturday). Seated at 7:15. Restaurant was ~1/3 full. We ordered the shishito peppers. The crispy rice. And the Omakase for everyone at the table. The Good: The dishes were both delicious and beautiful. The fish was all amazing. There were nice visual flairs on the nigiri pieces. The flavors were solid. When things went south (more on that later), they took accountability and were willing to make it right. I understand things happen, so that counts for a lot. The staff were friendly, if a bit odd (see below). Decor is modern and well done. Good ambience. The Bad: We waited almost an hour for food. In a ~1/3 full restaurant. We were starving by the time we got fed. We had 2 servers. At many points they communicated with each other about who was taking the lead on our table. Didn't matter. Every conversation you have with a server, we had twice. We would order drinks, then someone would come over and ask if we were ready for drinks. Etc. All night long. 1 server took accountability for her error, which I appreciate. But she also said it was because the kitchen got behind because of a big rush. Only 1 table got seated after us. There was no rush. The tipping point for me was when server 2, came over and asked us how everything was going. Odd question considering that we were 45 minutes in and still waiting for a seaweed salad. They did comp us a cut roll and a (warm) beer for the inconvenience. The service itself was just odd. One staff member had a flair for the theatrical. He placed dishes with exaggerated movements. He didn't make place for them on the table, as if he were presenting an offering or something. Very odd. Most of the omakase was plated individually, as it should be. But then randomly certain things were on share plates. Like the handrolls came to a plate. As if they were trying to conserve dishes or something? Also the communication was odd. Asking us to move dishes and retrieve our chopsticks from plates before they were bussed. I'm fine with all of this, but this meal was priced at a premium price point. I don't expect that at a fine dining establishment. There was a lot of just uber casual and off putting awkward conversation with the servers. Again, that's fine at neighborhood family owned sushi -- but that's not what Karma presents or prices as. We were asked (twice, of course) what flavors for desert we wanted before our final main course was served. Felt like they were trying to turn the table -- but nobody else was waiting! Small mochi served on a shared plate, cut (not all the way through) into quarters. Just made for an awkward dining experience. Like we all have 1 -- why not just plate it individually. Again felt like they were low on dishes or something? Also, it was too dark. We ended up doubling the lanterns on the table so we could see what we were eating. Net-Net: Ultimately they did make an effort to make things. We assumed the restaurant was new and was still workign otu the kinks. But I was surprised to see over a hundred reviews on yelp. We will give it another shot, but let's be real here -- Sugarfish is the bar. Their largest Trust Me is $59. This is more of an omakase experience but at $65 per person I expect a better overall experience. The pricing and ambience didn't align with the service and communication. It felt disjointed. But the sushi was delicious so I'd like to try bar seating.

From the moment we walked in we were wow'ed by the decor and ambiance and left even more wow'ed after such an amazing dinner. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Such a cool vibe inside the restaurant and love that they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The saxophonist was sooo good playing the jams all night. We even stayed longer to listen to him. Now to the food... we ordered the light omakase which was $65 a person and presentation was just as amazing as the taste of each bite. For starters we ordered the blue fin on crispy rice, the rolls we got the red yuzu lemon and hot plates we ordered the miso black cod. If we could keep eating we would have but I was stuffed. We even asked the waiter to take a photo and he went all out taking several angles and in front of the Karma sign. Definitely adding this restaurant to the rotation. They have valet parking since it's on Ventura but there's also street parking if you get lucky.

We had an ok time, but would not go back. The dark vibe and blue lights was a little strange and felt like Vegas or Hollywood. The food was good, but one of the desserts (mango mochi ice cream) was terrible. The strawberry mochi ice cream was delicious so not sure what happened.

Our first trip to Karma...on Valentine's Day. Valet parking was easy, Hostess was absolutely lovely, and we were immediately seated as per our reservation. We were seated in the lovely dining area at a two-top which I typically hate for sushi due to the many pieces of serving-ware. Our server gave us some great suggestions, of which we took heed. The Barracuda sushi was delish and rolls were phenomenal. They had live jazz music which was lovely albeit very loud for such a small footprint. All in all the ambiance was pretty and romantic, food delish and service great, even considering the hectic evening. Hostess tipped us about their Brunch on the way out so we will back to try that!

We had been looking forward to going back last night for Valentine's Day. It was not good at all. Walking up to the place it sounded like a night club, music blasting. Very chaotic service and staff. Food wasn't as good as the one time we went just after it opened (quality of fish was great, taste was just ok) Vibe was way off for the price point. Not going back. Oh and don't ask for a shot of chilled Don Julio!

Walked up and the radio was so loud I thought I was going to a club. The waiter decided to tell me I shouldn't drink my Don Julio iced. Weird. He actually gave me some attitude. The energy was honestly chaotic with the wait staff and orders. The food and the chef is amazing but it just needs some work on taking care of customers.

It would be really nice to know or completely close booking when the restaurant is closed. I got a confirmation a day before the reservation, arrived on time the place was closed! Hmmmm ?

We were very excited to try out this restaurant based on some of the reviews. The sushi was good but far from exceptional and not worth the cost. The service was definitely lacking. It took forever for us to get a cocktail we had ordered and had to ask about it at least 3 times before they brought it. This was before the restaurant got busy. Once the place filled up, it was almost impossible to get our server's attention. They had a Mongolian performer playing a unique looking instrument and singing along in a very guttural almost unnatural sounding voice. It was interesting the first 10 minutes, but quickly lost its luster and became somewhat annoying after that. We tried the restaurant but probably won't be going back.

Everything was wonderful. From the food to the staff to the ambiance. You can tell the waitstaff is new since they weren't able to answer questions but totally okay considering they've only been opened a few months. Bartender was out but our waiter recommended some good sake we could get by the glass instead of an entire bottle. With that being said I absolutely loved this place and will be back soon! Chef James that prepared our omakase was so nice and talented while Juan that prepared our handrolls appetizer and baked salsa salmon roll was amazing! I hope you all get to have a great experience like I did but we all know good sushi places on Ventura start to go down with the time. Hoping this is not the case here. If you can def get a sushi bar with James what a great time! And yes get the baked salmon roll I will post more recommendations next time I go.

EVERYTHING was mind blowing. Presentation was beyond my wildest dreams. This IS my go to sushi spot. Nice to go somewhere that isn't cookie cutter. 3 cheers to the creative minds behind the sushi bar!!!
