This has become our go-to French Restaurant, specifically for the escargot. They prepare it in the traditional shells with the best seasoned garlic-butter broth we have had outside of France. Four out of our family group of five chose the John Dory, which was just the right amount of being crispy and flaky. Our server recommended a very nice Puligny-Montrachet to accompany the meal, which ended up requiring a second bottle.

I have been going to Mistral since it was Albion's Bistro in the 80's and my father used to frequently take us there for dinner. It always has been and still is a special experience. It's a beautiful place, including a lovely covered patio, and the staff make you feel welcome and important from the moment you arrive. The food is largely classic French Bistro with several nice exceptions, and everything is delicious and beautifully presented. I particularly recommend the steak or tuna tartar, the escargots and the duck confit, but everything I've ever eaten there has been exceptional The wine list is excellent and includes a nice selection of wines by the glass. The service is superb, always attentive but never “hovering,” and everyone is polite and friendly. I have enjoyed many different occasions at Mistral , from business lunches to family birthday dinners, and everyone I've ever taken there has loved it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

As is the usual standard for Mistral, the Service was excellent, the Food was superb, the Wine was paired perfectly with our food. It was a special occasion for us and the noise level was a few dB's too high. We go to Mistral for excellent French food and this visit met that expectation, but it seemed that a few of our French favorites were no longer on the menu. Thank you Mistral fro bringing a bit of the best of France to Sherman Oaks!
