Mistrial is a careful constructed experience from the moment you enter the restaurant. You are politely greeted by a host or the GM and sat at a table that is available or of your choosing. You are quickly greeted by a server and offered beverage options and explained the menu. We were participating in DineLA and enjoyed the appetizers of the onion soup, the crab cake and then Cesar salad. We paired our entrees of steak and frites and John Dory Fish with the recommended Cabernet Sauvignon RouteStock Napa Valley and the Chardonnay Chatelin de Oliveita. And finished with the Chocolate Souffle and Mistral Cheesecake. The appetizers were succulent and flavorful. The main courses were savory and meticulously crafted with sauces and the desserts were delectable. Service was superb and all and all it was a perfect experience. We will definitely return and add this to the top of list for rich dining experiences in Sherman Oaks.

We went during Dune LA, although we have eaten here many times. While the food is delicious, we were very disappointed at our experience last night as in spite of a reservation, they sat at at a the worst table ( the host even told us it is the worst) due to a mix up with outdoor and indoor seating. The service was rushed. After about one minute getting our menus, the server was already pushing us to place our orders. We told him to please come back, and yet he came back about a minute later. The serves and busboy hovered over us during the entire meal. I am hoping this. Was just a fluke as we have b=never had that experience before. The foos is superb and the ambiance is wonderful. I would give them another try. Perhaps the new owners just need to kind the rhythm of their guests.

Not the best date night. Cool ambience. Noisy people cussing at the front while my wife and Inwaited for our table. We shook it off. We got to our table and the waiter didn't care at all about us. He was gruff, short, curt, and dint say anything about the food or specials. Just “all of it is good.” Nobody checked on us once food was delivered. THEN, after asking for the checkout took 20 minutes! Food was average so this place isn't even gonna get a second chance. Escargot was good, so was jump crab. Cake. Dory and duck weren't great. Average at best. Cheesecake was awful.

You would be hard pressed to find a bad meal at this local restaurant. Everything is delicious. Their fish, chicken and steaks never disappoint. The staff is incredibly adept at their jobs. I have never had a bad experience, and in fact always great experiences. Prices for entrees are mostly at market though salads feel pricey for the small portions. That would be my only criticism of this beloved place. Otherwise I would say get the french onion, the escargot, and any entree!

I love Mistral's. I'm never disappointed when I dine here. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The cocktails are perfect and the food is delicious. I ordered the Dover sole, my husband ordered the Veal and we shared a Soufflé. As usual everything was delicious. We requested a table in the main dining room and were accommodated. This has become one of my favorite restaurants and I will always recommend it to friends and clients.

We decided on a night out and found this spot on OpenTable. Based on the reviews, we had high hopes, and it did not disappoint! Daniel, our server, was amazing, very attentive and 'Johnny-on-the-spot.' We really appreciated his service, and honestly, all of the employees were great. The ambiance and food were excellent. I also had the best Old Fashioned of the year so far. Highly recommend!
I have been living in Sherman Oaks for 6 years and never been to Mistral. Me and my daughter finally made it last night. What a treat. Incredible food, Daniel and Alejandro provided best customer service experience - rare these days. So happy that this is my neighborhood restaurant. This will become a frequent spot for me. Highly recommend!

We had been to Mistral once before a number of years ago and had a lovely experience so we thought it would be fun to go back. While the atmosphere of the restaurant has a nice upscale NY vibe, the food didn't match with that. The escargot was good and so were the salads, but each of our main courses were just ok.. not terrible, but not outstanding. There were 6 of us and we each came away with the same impression. The service personnel were all friendly, polite and professional, but we all felt the service was slow.... particularly our drink order and bringing just some bread and butter...

Mistral’s is a rarity - the food was one of the best restaurant meals I have had in Los Angeles. The service was 5 star in every way. And the venue, with new owners is as beautiful and classy as you can get. I felt as if I was in Paris. There was not any fault in any way - pure perfection. For fans of the old Pinot Bistro, this fills that hole and takes it to a new level.
