I stopped by with a bunch of friends who had never had Portuguese pastry before a few weeks ago. The food as always was amazing. The service was perfect, professional, and super friendly. This is the best Portuguese restaurant I have been to outside of Portugal. A must visit. Amazing and wonderful.
Would a $25 gift certificate be enough for a heat stroke and leaving after a 75 minute wait for food? Let me add that it’s Mother’s Day!
After making reservations 2 weeks in advance, we were told that the party in front of us wasn’t leaving and we were seated outside - no problem except it was over 100 degrees outside, and we came for our first meal of the day, on Mother’s Day.
After asking repeatedly to be moved inside or at least on the patio that had fans, the answer was we’ll try, but nothing happened.
We were so hot, coupled with no food for way over an hour, I got a heat stroke. I had to keep going inside because I was so dizzy.
We kept asking for our food, but after 75 minutes I felt like I was going to faint, so we had to leave.
We paid the check which was $160 - and I called to speak to the owner who explained that they were extremely short staffed because two waiters didn’t make it. Problem was that nothing was communicated to us, and we were not given the choice to wait or not wait, as most restaurants tell you in advance if they are short staffed.
The owner, Fatima, was very apologetic and asked what she can do. I said that since I didn’t end up having food and ended up in bed all Mother’s Day because of the heat stole, I would appreciate a refund.
Fatima asked to send her the receipt, and the she disappeared. After following up by phone and email multiple times, she offered me a $25 gift certificate!!!!
I couldn’t even find the words I was so insulted. The same way she made me wait and gave me false hopes she would make this situation right, is the same way she treated us on Mother’s Day.
I will never return to this restaurant and am disgusted with the owner. Zero accountability for treating her customers well and actually standing by her word to make the situation right. Avoid!
The best Pastéis de Nata in Los Angeles!
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious pastries. Highly recommend trying the pasteis and the eclairs!
Very authentic Portuguese spot. Delicious natas, delicious bacalhau... as real as it could be.
Obrigado Fatima!
Love this place. My family is Portuguese so we love the food here
Absolutely amazing pastries! This little whole in the wall is such a gem for the valley.
I ordered one classic nata and a queijada. The pastry on both had a billion flaky, crispy, crunchy layers. They were outstanding.
The classic nata was my favorite. Thick, dense, rich, yet also light custard with a subtle sweetness and not over eggy.
I didn't like the queijada quite as much but still enjoyed it. Nutty, thicker like a paste, but still sweet enough and tasty enough to enjoy with coffee.
I will absolutely return
I recently had the chicken madeiro and it is simply amazing. But the service was also very good along with the intimate kind of ambience there makes it a VERY worthwhile dining experience that you must do at least once in your lifetime!

No hi, no hello, no welcome. Went in to grab some pastries to go. Cream puffs which are maybe 1-1.5 inches in diameter almost 5 dollars. The world is on fire, I get that, but almost five dollars for a small cream puff? No thanks. Left without buying anything. Shame really wanted to support a small business.

A little taste of home country, in LA. Thank you Ofelia for being such a wonderful host. A definitive come back, next time for lunch with Portuguese wine, hopefully.
