Fantastic! Excellent quality and really flavoursome. The menu is smallish which I love, focus on a few quality dishes done particularly well. Service was also attentive and professional. Small cozy restaurant. Highly recommend.

Consistently top notch omakase experience with fresh fish prepared in delicious ways combined with a great wine list. There’s a reason we make our way to Sherman Oaks everytime we’re in LA. Worth a visit!

Emissary of Truth

To say this place is overrated is such an understatement that saying so is an insult to anyone who possesses the principle of integrity. The food tasted like absolutely and utterly repulsive waste. This place knows how to put cheap lipstick on particularly ugly pigs, and they have been getting away with that for far too long. Furthermore, the service was atrocious. The young lady taking care of us was rude and condescending. All she knew was how to recite a memorized script that elaborated on the menu. What a disgusting poison to the city of Los Angeles Sushi Note is.All of the statements herein are my opinion and nothing more. Walk away with them with what you please and, if you do so, check your GPS to ensure you are walking in the opposite direction of this abomination of a restaurant!

My husband booked dinner reservations here on a weekday night. We have an 8 month old baby and couldn’t find a babysitter so last minute so we decided to bring him along, as he usually just sleeps in his Doona at restaurants. Unfortunately, as soon as we arrived we were discriminated against for bringing the baby along. The host seemed bothered about the baby and the stroller and gave us attitude and snarky remarks. She also scolded us for not informing them we were bringing our baby. The waitress wasn’t much better either. As she greeted us she asked if I wanted sparkling lemonade instead of the 2 oz of sparking wine they give as starter. When I looked at her confused she said that’s since we had the baby with us, she assumed I was breast feeding. This is a total disrespect as what I choose to feed my baby is none of her concern. News flash, this isn’t the 1900’s where moms only had breastfeeding as an option. Needless to say the night was a disaster for us. What my husband tried making into a nice family outing turned into baby shaming night from employees at a restaurant. I left the restaurant in tears as it was my first time feeling my baby was discriminated against. Needless to say we will never be returning here. And if you plan on taking your kid here I would look elsewhere. We as parents and our children deserve to be treated with respect anywhere we decide to spend our money.

The service and atmosphere here are wonderful, unfortunately the food is not held up to the same level of quality. We got a few selections of nagari and only a few of them were even good.

Went for the Whole Note and the Cellar level wine pairing. Most of the sushi was pretty great, the toro course was exceptional. Other dishes were beyond lackluster. Wine pairing was disappointing. My server and somm apparently, Harrison, was not very attentive, had to watch the chef try to wave him down at every course so he could serve me. I sat at the bar and could also hear him discussing how confused he was and what to pair. Was explained what the cellar level was but seemed I just paid more and received the lower level tasting. Way more interesting wines and pairings could have been there. Was a waste of money and wish I just got some Sake instead. The rest of the staff were sweet, and also seemed to notice and be frustrated with their coworker being exceptionally horrible at his job. I thought maybe he was new and training but turns out he’s been there for years. Overall, likely wouldn’t go back. Better picks for sushi even in the valley.

I don't know how I've never been here before but it wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. There is much to be said about an elevated staff that is perfectly poised in how to treat their guests and create an "experience ". That is just what they did, from the hostess, to the server, to the sommelier. And I haven't even started talking about the food!! The ambiance is beautiful, the food was spectacular and fresh, we had the Omakase. It was served with a sparking rosé that was just wonderful! The whole experience was a 10 and I can't wait to go back! Unbelievable hidden gem!

Some of the rolls are somewhat uninspired deep fried novelties, but the soft shell crab roll and the baked mussels are awesome!

Great place for dinner. The restaurant is cozy and service is attentive. We sat at a booth and everyone in our party each had the Whole Note omakase. We did not do any of the formal wine or sake pairings offered and instead ordered sake and beer a la carte. I'm posting pictures of everything we had that evening. I could imagine this being a nice place to bring a date.Dinner was delicious and well paced. Can highly recommend this restaurant.

Overall very disappointing meal. I used to work in high end sushi restaurants so I have a pretty good understanding of the standard of quality. This place is charging very high prices so the expectation for the quality of food should be very high. Of the 12 pieces of sushi we ordered none of them were good. Even salmon (the most basic piece of sushi you can get) was very fishy. In LA you can probably find 10 better sushi restaurants in a 20 mile radius. Definitely skip this one.

Top notch omakase sushi and wine pairings. Great spot for a date night, on par with the best sushi restaurants in Los Angeles if not the top.
