Amazing paella and light bites . Totally worth trying new things, as we did won't be disappointed!

I've been wanting to try The Local Peasant for a while cause of my proximity but just kept pushing it off. I finally went in the other day and honestly, I'd prefer if I kept pushing it off.

Off the bat it is just any other generic Restobar. Minimal decor means you can easily forget what restaurant. Even the exterior of the place offers no hint that it is even a restaurant thanks to lack of signage. The waiter we had was polite, attentive, and probably the only highlight of the visit.

The food, while tasty, was lacking. We started with the Truffle Macaroni and cheese with bacon, which turned out to be Penne Pasta in a runny alfredo. I have no clue why anyone would call this Macaroni and Cheese when the cheese is simply a runny sauce that was more truffle than cheese and the Macaroni is a completely different pasta. Also, to pay extra for Bacon on it and there be maybe a quarter of an ounce of bacon is insulting. Overall the Macaroni and cheese is a collosal failure. Just call it Penne in an alfredo sauce and you're off to a better start, however, even then the sauce was too runny and you still have the insult of paying extra for bacon and having no bacon in it.

I had the Fish n Chips for my main. The chips were larger than I'd normally prefer. I feel all of them could have been cut in half and still been large chips. As they are, while the outside was crisp the chips are too large to get that really good pillowy inside. The fish were also good. Good breading, Good crisp, good flavor, but they delivered it on a metal tray which was considerably cooler than the fish, therefore condensation quickly formed so the entire underside of each fish because soggy and they fell apart. Not only did they fall apart because of the failure of the breading to stay crisp, it felt like these were hunks of fish that were slapped together. Each chunk quickly came apart from the whole as you eat and without a truly crisp breading to keep them intact, they just fall to the plate creating a mess.

Overall this place seems to exist purely for the sports crowds. Come in, get drunk, watch the sports ball, and enjoy overpriced almost there food.

If you're looking for a place to actually eat though, there are better options around.

Mother’s Day Completely Ruined And They Couldn’t Have Cared Less

This was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day brunch for my mom and sister, but thanks to this place’s complete lack of care and hospitality, it turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience none of us will forget for all the wrong reasons.

We sat down at 11:30 AM and ordered by 11:45. My niece’s waffle came out quickly, but that’s where the service stopped. My mom and sister’s food didn’t arrive for another 25 minutes, and my own order, a simple frittata and a side of fruit—took nearly an hour. My food finally showed up at 12:40 PM, just as we were about to leave and pay the check.

The worst part? Nobody seemed to care. Our server and another female server actually lied multiple times, saying my food had already been made and would be out in “just a minute.” Yet after they said that, another 30 minutes went by. No one checked in. No one apologized. And no one made the slightest effort to recover the situation or show a shred of hospitality.

We didn’t even see a manager until the end when they had to fix a mistake they made by charging us for something we didn’t order. Only then did we finally get a half-hearted apology, but by that point, it felt meaningless.

Here’s the thing, I’m not someone who complains over small stuff, and if someone had just come over, apologized, and shown a little basic courtesy, this review wouldn’t even exist. But they didn’t. No one cared that I sat there without food while my family ate. No one cared that it completely ruined the experience for my mom and sister on Mother’s Day.

Final advice: Don’t come here for a special occasion. This is a bar with zero commitment to customer service. And if something goes wrong don’t expect anyone to make it right.

Decent little bar a bit away from the busiest stretches of Ventura Blvd. Friendly staff, good drinks. Nothing extraordinary, but a nice place for a quick drink or bite.

Where farm-to-table meets 'cool without trying too hard.' The food is fresh and creative, and the cocktails are on point. Service can be slow when it’s busy, but the chill vibe makes up for it. Perfect for brunch or impressing foodie friends!

Jason was such a a great server. The food was delicious. One person in our group was vegan and she had a veggie burger with vegan cheese and said it was great. I had so much fun with the bloody Mary bar! I can't wait to go back!

The Valet …..
Love Local Peasant.
The valet guy in the back is a waste of space. Rude. No pleasant customer service at all unless you’re a tall white guy.

Had a fly in my drink. Manager refused to comp me for the drink. Argued with my family. Not to mention it was my birthday…

First time here the other night! Took a second a find the place as there are no signs (reminds of me that one Always Sunny episode, lol) but there are plenty of street parking! It's a really cute bar! It's really clean and all of the staff are super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. David was great and had great beer recommendations! It's not obnoxiously loud in there and they also have patio sitting.

They have some of the best onion rings here! The fish taco was really crispy. I got steak frites and omg it was THE best I've ever had! The chimichurri was super fresh and garlicky, the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and the steak was cooked to a perfect cool rare temp as requested! I loved that it was actually rare because most of the time when I ask for rare, it comes out medium rare at best at any other restaurant. It was the most tender steak I've had for steak frites! The drinks were really good. They have a pretty good selection of beer and a lot of different cocktails. The Swiftyni was on the menu and I just had to try it! It's a very tasty drink! Definitely recommend this place for dates, group gatherings, and just casual dinner with friends. Great food and drinks!

Parking: Meters until 8pm, it's $1 an hour.
