Top quality fish prepared and presented beautifully, along with other sushi standards and several unique options. The atmosphere is minimalist, but the sushi, sashimi, and other dishes are anything but ordinary. From buttery salmon to terrific tuna, everything here is fresh, delicious, and worth a visit.

Zen Toro Sushi team,

I was very disappointed by our recent visit. We paid extreme premium prices for mediocre sushi many dishes arrived soggy and tasteless, and the bill was confusing. To make matters worse, a couple of people at our table became ill (vomiting and diarrhea) after the meal. This is unacceptable given the high prices. There are serious health and ethics concerns here.

The quality of the fish isn’t great. The servers are understaffed. I would have to say that it’s very your typical sushi spot on Ventura Blvd. with supermarket quality fish! Wouldn’t go back!

The best sushi restaurant I have ever experienced. The menu offers interesting options and they definitely level up on their sushi rolls. The sushi roll I always get has gold/gold appearing flakes on it and it is really delicious and unique. They also have great skewers of cooked meat and everything is so fresh and so delicious.The drink selection is pretty good and the service is really friendly especially when they get to know you. This place should have a Michelin star. It’s that good and I’m sure it will someday.

Ordered a negitoro serrano (bluefin toro hand roll w/green onions andshisho leaf, yellow tail hamachi kama, and the chicken karaage. Absolutely incredible. I ate most of it before thinking to take photos for the review!

Great new restaurant right on Ventura blvd in the heart of Sherman oaks. Not the cheapest eat but definitely not the most expensive either and very very satisfying. Highly recommend their lemon roll, give these guys your business

A hidden gem! Zen Toro absolutely blew me away with its fresh, delicious sushi and charming atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of—shoutout to Jeff, who was amazing. He was helpful, professional, and so approachable—exactly the kind of service that makes a place memorable.

Every dish I tried was spot-on, but the baked lobster roll??!? Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. And the spicy tuna roll was a total hit—fresh, with just the right kick. You can really taste the quality in every bite.

This place has officially become my go-to for high-quality sushi. Highly recommend if you’re craving something special and satisfying.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but I felt that our experience Zen Toro in Sherman Oaks was extraordinary and worth reviewing.
They just opened for lunch after three months as a new restaurant so we popped in for some sushi. The host couldn’t have been more welcoming so we took a seat at the sushi bar in front of the sushi chef Sam. We ordered a couple of their specialty rolls which were outstanding and were treated to a slice of king salmon topped with shaved truffles and black caviar. It was incredible.
Even their iced green tea was awesome - not watery and very flavorful.
Their ingredients are top notch, only the freshest fish and ingredients that they import from all over the world. And to make it sound even better, their prices were very reasonable.
I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could.
