I'm so sad writing this because this place is my favorite take out Chinese ever! I literally will only ever come here and tonight I was very disappointed. I'm pregnant and craving my usual! Chow main/ rice orange chicken and teriyaki chicken with a order of cream cheese wontons! My wontons were over cooked on the edges and were unable to be eaten, my food tasted weird and chow main was all cabbage hardly any noodles. I usually order a side order of chow main for my kids and again all cabbage. This is very unusual for New Panda and hope it was just a off day! I will of course give them another try but my pregnancy craving wasn't met and that made me a bit sad. Hope next time it's better!

Owner- Saturday I asked for 2 entrees and an eggroll. Young girl at counter said egg roll would be 4 minutes. I said that was fine. She charged my food and it was $12.44. I thought that amount was low so I asked if she was charging everything together. She said yes. I thought wow what a deal. I paid. Okay... not!!! Then she charged me another $12.44! I asked what that was for. She said the 2nd entree. I was really annoyed at this point and I asked "really?!" She said yes. I reminded her that I asked her earlier if she was charging me for everything. She said she didnt hear me. I then asked why she would charge me seperately anyway? She said I told her to. This went on back and forth for another minute. Then I wanted her to back it out and charge all together. She said she couldnt. Okay by this time I really was unhappy. I told her I'll just pay. She was distracted, high or I dont know.. *** Not once during this whole thing did she ever apologize for her mistake or for inconveniencing me.. not once. The worst service ever!

4.5 stars (+) First of all, the servings are generous, almost uncomfortably too much at first but once you try the food... you ask yourself why can't these portions be the norm at other places? And isn't it fun to see if they can still close the boxes after? :) (+) Bbq pork is totally worth the extra charge. That tender glistening red colored meat can't be found anywhere else nearby that I know of. And you really can't go wrong with any of the chicken options... from orange to zesty to I think the Japanese style one. (+) They cook up fast if low or missing a particular standard item. Just ask and wait patiently for a few minutes and you'll get some of the next fresh batch! (+) From my personal experience with the staff, it's always been kosher. Maybe there is an individual worker that's been deserving of some recent negative reviews, but usually I've seen the Asian chef (so it's legit right?), maybe he's the owner, in the back doing his thing in the kitchen. The young women cashier and servers in front grind too to take orders and help you get your food. Having said that, there may be off days and stressful bad days for folks on either side of the food counter... everyone is going through something. I also can't imagine the random crazies and rude people that food service has to encounter on the daily. Empathy and respect goes a long way in general, but esp for the food industry. (-) Only knock I can think of is the inside is janky, but it is what it is. Frfr... if it was too clean, then you know the Chinese food woudn't be that great!

Small little place but it's good. Reasonable prices. The only thing is wish they would offer more family packs. Over all I would recommend to try.

I ate here for the second time. I'm sorry but I have never had the worst Chinese food., it's greasy and truly not sure how they are still in business.

I hate writing this review. I just went and picked up my dinner and only 1 out of 4 people behind the counter were wearing masks (the cook wasn't even wearing a mask) and no one was wearing gloves. Seems to be under new ownership, which is a shame because it looks dirty and very run down. I used to come here back in the 90s when it opened and it was AMAZING. I threw the food in the trash and got Panera instead. Will not be coming back.

It opens at 11 am but long wait for mediocre food. Owner was very rude.

if your a woman they give you less. A man you get a larger portion and still pay the same price. so I hardly go there. Its set discrimination

My buddy Mike recently moved to Simi. We both like Chinese food so he recommended New Panda. After the 10 minute drive to get there, I saw from the outside of the place your nondescript, run-of-the-mill cheap, Chinese place in a typical strip mall. What awaited me was nothing ordinary at all. The first thing I noticed was that each entree looked fresh. Usually, any Panda Express type place has a tray of food that's been sitting out for a while. Everything looking fresh here was definitely a plus. I got the 2 item combo which was reasonably priced. I ordered fried rice and noodles to start. The portions were enormous! I chose Mushroom Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. Each looked good, and again, huge portions! I started with the fried rice. The flavor was outstanding. I'm not sure what they added to the rice to make it taste that way, but it was moist, flavorful, and damned good. The Van powah noodles. were standard fare Chinese noodles. Good flavor. The mushroom chicken had lots of big chunks of mushrooms and chicken. The sauce it was mixed with was good as well. The chicken was slightly overcooked but tasty. The Kung Pao chicken was very mild. It was ok but nothing to write home about. It did, as other yelpers reported, have a lot of celery in it. It wasn't bad, there were just too many of them. Overall, this was a great meal. The huge portions, the tasty food, and the affordable price tag make New Panda a place I would definitely return to. Good job Mike. You picked a great place to have lunch.

The food was good the service was all right but the fact that I paid $7 for like half portioning on my food was not good for $7 they should have at least filled the bowl
