The bartender at Sloughhouse Kitchen was outstanding. He delivered quick and attentive service, but what really impressed me was how he went the extra mile by personally stepping in to finish my meal. That kind of dedication and care is rare to find. Professional, efficient, and genuinely customer-focused — he made my visit exceptional.

Exceptional in every way! From the beautiful restoration of the historic building, the amazing farm to table menu, the attentive wait staff and most importantly the preparation of food. Our meal was memorable, Dasha was excellent, and our food was delicious! This was a memorable dining experience and look forward to returning when in the area.

We’ve been here in the past and found it to be wonderful; however, it’s been a year or more since. I ordered the goulash which was to come over potato dumplings with bread. It arrived with 6 tiny pieces of meat in liquid broth with a few tiny carrots, no dumplings, no bread. When I advised them if the missing items the wait staff disappeared with no explanation. My husband patiently waiting to consume his meal got up after 15 minutes to find staff. I ask them to remove my meal so it wouldn’t be cold while waiting. No explanation whatsoever. The staff returned my cold food with a side of what was said to be masked potatoes which resembled grits. It did not taste right. I was informed it was not instant potatoes but French 50/50. Half potatoes half butter. It was tasteless. The wait staff wanted to argue with me over the food excessively explaining they were not instant potatoes! After about 8 or 10 times I said “stop” I’m not going to argue with you. The service was lousy as was the food. My husband’s chicken Parmesan sandwich was mediocre at best. The windows are all filthy with cob webs inside each corner! So disappointed, this was a favorite of ours that we drive almost an hour to have! We won’t ever visit again. 😞

This is a frequent dinner spot for my husband and I. We absolutely love coming here, not only is the food incredible and you can tell it is always fresh! The atmosphere is always amazing, the staff is so friendly and welcoming. We love coming here for the laidback experience and seriously excellent food. We are so happy to have this restaurant so close to home. Already can’t wait to go back!

Incredible experience. What a hidden gem. Food is amazing. Get the bruscheta, could've eaten four plates of just that. Everything tastes freshly made.

They need to upgrade the service. It was a circus....no order whatsoever. Meals arrived at different times, and appetizers after meals. It's just a mess. I can't recommend this place at all.

Feeling old country home, friendly atmosphere and service, and the BEST food in Sacramento County. Consistently good - great wine selections, dessert options, seafood, homemade sourdough bread, schnitzel and stroganoff - I just can’t rave enough about this place. Don’t hesitate to try it!

We went in today for brunch on Mother’s Day. Little did we know it was only buffet style and couldn’t order from the actual menu. Around 1:30 when we went to fix our plates, all the food was cold and you could tell it had been sitting around without being refreshed. We aren’t ones to complain but my mother, the reason we were out celebrating, explained to the waitress that the food was cold and not very appetizing and all the waitress said was “sorry”. For $70 a person we could have definitely enjoyed better quality food and service elsewhere. We have dined here before and it was delicious, so this is a huge let down for us especially on such a special day. We won’t be back in the near future. The weather and scenery luckily made our day.

Food was very good and the building is very neat and has a ton of history. It took a very long time to get our food and to get the check. The music gives senior citizen cruise vibes.

I love this place! The atmosphere is something special, feels like an old-school restaurant where everything is just right. The tables are set perfectly, the wine shelves in the background add a nice touch, and the music is on point.

The onion soup was incredible, easily one of the best I’ve had. Rich, flavorful, and just what I was craving. On top of that, the service was great—super friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

If you’re looking for a spot with great food, good vibes, and a classic feel, this is it. Can’t wait to come back!
