We have come here some times because we love the food, it is very delicious, it is really worth it but they are constantly rushing us to leave the place quickly, and they are super insistent with the tip, I have to see how they make a bad face to the customers if they leave them less than they would like.

Restaurant food experience is admittedly subjective, but BBTR has great reviews. I think we may have showed up on the wrong day, time for to go order. Potstickers were overcooked, Larb was mediocre (poorly seasoned), Twisted Sister had lots of chicken but 2 shrimp, Tom Kah had good broth and chicken but lacked anyother ingredients. Pad Thai was good. Staff was efficient and pleasant. Best to BBTR.

If you visit this restaurant expect to wait in line, do not be impatient. The wait is worth it. The only negative is I never want to eat Thai food anywhere else. Great ambiance, incredible staff, and delicious food.

Found this restaurant looking at Yelp. The lines in seating and take out were both long. Seated after about 30 min wait on a Sunday for dinner. The staff are friendly and the food is tasty. We had the green curry, sea food po tak and Bangkok Bay Boat. All 10/10. Will add to my list!

We have been going to Bangkok Bay about 1x a month for 15 years. it's one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to anywhere (and my husband -loves- Thai, so we get it often when we travel). There is often a line out the door because locals know this place reliably delivers excellent food, super-fast. It whisks you away from the fairly nondescript strip mall that houses it into a charming, eclectic interior. To give an idea of how much I like this restaurant, we got takeout from it all during COVID. Most of the places we frequented during the pandemic I have trouble going to now--it's just a BAD association, even if the restaurant is good. I am STILL excited to go to Bangkok Bay. Please: trust a local. this place is worth your business. Favorite family dishes are eggplant, drunken noodles, green and panang curries, and young bok choy with ginger.

We have had a lot of Thai food over the years. This restaurant served the worst Pad Thai we ever had. Scallops were awful. Appetizers served with rancid sauce.

A reservation is a must at this restaurant unless you don't mind waiting... my mistake that I should of tried calling to ask (apparently they do take reservations over the phone). My friend and I arrived at 6:30 on a Friday. The wait was a good 30 minutes. The restaurant is very small and tables are close together filled with customers and busy servers. The decor is all tastefully done. We ordered a couple cocktails while looking over the menu. We chose the Bay Puffs, Small Tom Kha, Pad Thai w/Shrimp, Massaman Beef and the Crispy Chicken. Service is fast and the food and drinks arrive fast. The Puffs were good. The soup, pad thai and beef were excellent with the heat we requested. The chicken was the weakest, bland. All in all a very good meal and we would definitely be back. Atmosphere: small, busy, nice decor. Service: very good. Food: very good.

Food and service were very good, but there were I believe to be fruit flies all over our table and it was just gross. I mentioned it to the waitress that came over to ask us about it and they’re definitely aware of the issue.

This restaurant was a huge disappointment. We were looking forward to some yummy thai food after all the hype and reviews, but we did NOT have yummy food. It was a lovely restaurant, but the service was only fair and the food was mediocre. Similan Thai is MUCH better, IMHO.

This restaurant was founded by a family that has operated it for several years. It's the best Thai restaurant in San Diego. Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions are very coarse!! The price is just and the location is great! I will definitely come back, hopefully they will organize cooking classes, it would be a success!
