Beach grass consistently delivers the goods. Seriously delicious meals, unique & fresh flavors. And as someone with a big appetite, they never disappoint in their portion sizes. Breakfast and lunch plates are both excellent! I love the pineapple upside down pancakes, chorizo scramble, and the turkey and potatoes with eggs.

Great option for breakfast/lunch/brunch in the heart of Solana Beach. First off, I've always enjoyed the area since it's a bit less crowded than other North County cities like Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Oceanside. You can almost always find street parking out front our in the back. It's also in close proximity to the train station. We dined in around 1pm on a Saturday and there was no wait. There were both breakfast and lunch menus offered at that time -- the menu is diverse but not overwhelming. There's American classics as well as Mexican dishes. I opted for the Heuvos Rancheros - tasty tortillas swimming in a pool of black beans topped by red salsa and two over-easy eggs. Flavorful, fresh, and hit the spot. That said I look forward to trying other items on the menu. My dining companions went for the ABC Burger accompanied by a side of fries and the blueberry pancakes. Both looked (and smelled) delicious. Portions were extremely generous and filling. Pricing was fair for the area and quality.

Nice atmosphere, service was great. Eggs Benedict was very good but you have to get the lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes, they are excellent

This Brunch was sooo good. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich, and my banana chocolate chip muffin. They are know more for their pancakes but I knew I would be able to eat even a half stack and reheating pancakes are no fun. the people next to us ordered them and they looked amazing. I had a huge pineapple mimosa, which I could barely finish. The service was pleasing and quick. They had outside seating and you allowed to have your pet.

I first had clam chowder when I was 10 on a family trip to Boston. Fifty years later, I've eaten thousands of bowls of the stuff. One of the very best was today at the Beach Grass Cafe. One of the few times I've ever wanted a recipe.

I've been meaning to try more places in Solana Beach, and settled on taking an old friend to this one for brunch today after perusing through several establishments' offerings. Service was fantastic -- the staff was warm, helpful and comfortable. It made for a very nice, chill and welcoming atmosphere. There was no wait despite it been a Saturday morning, and the ambience was very relaxed and bright. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, and was very delighted to see that they subbed out the traditional carbs bottom with slices of tomato (they still give you a slice of bread though). It made the dish far less heavy, and was a smart move given how well the acidity of the tomatoes complemented the crab cakes. I will say that the crab cakes seemed a little fishy, perhaps out of freshness in preparation? The eggs were perfectly poached. The hollandaise was delicate and not overwhelming. The potatoes were essentially O'Brien-styled, which added a nice flavor to them. Overall, it was a great serving size. My friend ordered the French toast, which was done with what seemed like diagonal cuts of baguette, which was more interesting than your typical French toast. It also seemed like a good serving size without being heavy and overly decadent. Their lunch menu also sounded really good, and everything was generally fair-priced. I'd recommend checking this place out if you're looking for solid selection and homey, authentic vibes for brunch.

My regular breakfast cost half of this and the place looks like a million bucks. I think Beach grass needs some updating to give it the final touch. The food was very good!

Went today for brunch with 2 friends and 4 slightly rowdy dogs! The staff were very nice and brought us water for the dogs without us asking and even refilled their bowls when they were empty. The food was delicious and the fresh orange juice was divine. We will definitely be back.

Used the Yelp app to recommend a breakfast place in Solana Beach, and it came through with flying colors! Everything we've tried thus far at Beach Grass Cafe has been wonderful, and the staff has been friendly and welcoming :-) Great dishes that stand out in my memory include: - A home-made peanut butter sandwich that tastes exactly like candy! - Their over-the-top delicous Denver omelette - Their house-made apple/blackberry jam Tip: Their coffee drinks are all exceptional! Bottom line: There aren't very many breakfast places in North County that can hold a candle to Beach Grass Cafe. If you haven't tried this place yet, what are you waiting for!? ;-)
