We have been coming for many years. It is unfortunate that the owner is no longer on top of the place. The manager is nowhere to be found on a Thursday night. Everyone is trying hard but it is so understaffed and completely mismanaged at this point. Sad. If it looks busy at all, walk away, you and everyone else will be happier.

Chief’s Burgers & Brew in Solana Beach isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a controlled detonation disguised as a restaurant. You walk in for lunch and walk out reborn, or at least mildly shaken. The iced tea alone could resurrect the dead—cold, mean, and brewed with the kind of conviction usually reserved for interrogation rooms. None of that syrupy nonsense. This stuff bites back, then soothes your soul just enough to keep you ordering refills.

Then there’s the hot chicken sandwich—good God. A glorious collision of spice and sanity. Just enough heat to make you sweat, but not so much that it drowns out the flavor. Every bite’s a fistfight between pleasure and pain, and halfway through, I realized I was losing. Two bites in, I dropped the act, grabbed a knife and fork, and tried to tame the beast before it collapsed completely. By the end, my plate looked like a crime scene—sauce spattered, crumbs everywhere, the aftermath of a beautiful disaster.

And holding it all together behind the bar was Mark—part mixologist, part therapist, part field commander. The man runs that counter like it’s a mission, calm under fire, always ready with a drink or a story.

Five stars, no hesitation. Chief’s isn’t a burger joint—it’s a baptism by flavor. Come hungry, tip Mark heavy, and accept that you’ll need a shower and an alibi when it’s over.

Huge thank you to my two servers today (around Noon); they were so nice and were quick to accommodate my quick turnaround, so that I could catch my train back to LA.

Simple place with great burgers. Great one with blue cheese, tasty, soft and full of taste. Nicely made to fit in hand with superb fresh fries and good ipa. Two burgers with extra sweet fries and for 4 ipa beers was 85 us including tip.

Ok... I work around the corner from this place, but live out of the area. I went for wings, and WAS NOT disappointed. Lemon pepper, crispy but not dry. Heavy on the LP, just how I like it. I noticed, a decent happy hour offering, which I will be back for. I also ordered both chilis' to go. Also good. Green could use a lil more kick, but that's just me. All in all, comfy spot great food. ??

Great sports bar what makes it even greater is the food is really good with service to match. And if you're a Denver bronco fan you're in luck because it's a bronco bar one a very few in SoCal. Not to be missed

Came here on a few occasions, beer I always enjoyed, food was good all but one visit, where they had over cooked the fish (fish n chips). A nice atmosphere.
