I had gotten off the train in the morning. I needed my morning coffee and also I needed to use the bathroom. I needed to look at the menu so I let the second person order while I decided. And then it was my turn I thought. Instead the barista took orders from the third and fourth person, knowing full week I was there first and was now ready to order. Three orders ahead of mine. Should have been fast. Wasn't.

Sadly, I've been coming here for years on and off. But, everytime I've stopped by it's been a horrible food experience. They changed ownership a fews years back and the quality and care of standards went with it. The second to last time I stopped by the Restaurant their was hair in our food and our food was cold (on Mother's Day of all days). The server was sorry and comped the meal, but sadly the damage was done. Today, I decided to give the Claire's Too bakery another shot because I was craving a ham and cheese crossaint. The clerk told me the crossaints were made that day, so I ordered one. The price was ridiculous $7.50 and when you check out it forces you to give a tip first. It's uncomfortable and overpriced. But, I paid and received my warmed crossaint. Hopefully it would make my day more yummy. But, sadly the crossaint was undercooked, gummy, and a horrible representation of baked goods coming from a bakery. I don't recommend the bakery to anyone, and I'm doubtful I'd ever go back to the restaurant. Time has diminished experience. Another place would give a better experience.

What a disappointment! As a longtime fan of Claire's on Cedros, I decided to try Claire's Too. No cinnamon rolls, tiny croissants, and the muffins I ordered were overpriced at over $3.50 each for barely a couple of bites. To top it off, the register auto-selected a 22% tip for simply bagging my 2 miniscule pastries. Feels like a rip-off. Stick to the original Claire's and skip this place.

It's okay for a quick snack or a coffee to go.

We got an iced latte and a hot mocha and unfortunately both were pretty bad. They gave us an iced mocha instead by mistake and we decided to roll with it cause it was a hot day. Both drinks were so watery and lacked any flavor. We honesty couldn’t tell if there was an espresso used in them. We ended up tossing them and going elsewhere for coffee.

Maybe it was just an off day for them cause the reviews are pretty good?

Maybe it was an off day but it took them almost 30 minutes to make an iced latte… burned the espresso and served stale pastry’s. Definitely won’t be going back.

Incredibly slow service. Took forever to order and forever for food to be ready.

I’m very disappointed from this place, three weeks ago I got a Veggie sandwich from Claire’s Too, I took it to go and as soonest I got to my work I started eating it however the bread was very hard and the flavor was very strange, I decided to take the sandwich out of the paper bag where it was wrap in and I see the cheese was full of green mold. I took the sandwich back at the end of my work day to Claire’s looking for a refund, however I was only able to talk to a person in Claire’s the restaurant she told me, there was nothing she could do since they had just close for the day and the owner wasn’t there and that I should just throw away the sandwich. The next day I call Claire’s Too and left a voicemail since I wasn’t able to stop again, and ever since then, no one contacted me back. I finally was able to go back two weeks after to ask for a refund as I think it’s just fair to not pay for a moldy veggie sandwich, that I wasn’t able to eat, one of the workers took my receipt for a few minutes to show it to the owner and came back with it saying they would give me a refund, however I still haven’t received any refund. I’m very disappointed of how this got ignored.

Claire's Too is a convenient to-go coffee shop and more, located right next door to Claire's on Cedros in Solana Beach, California. Both establishments are charming and situated just a couple of blocks from Fletcher's Cove, making it a great spot to grab a coffee or snack before heading to the beach, which is exactly what I did.

I decided to get a turkey panini, although I was very tempted by the delicious-looking pastries. The menu mentioned that the turkey panini included cranberries and deli mustard, but neither was on my sandwich. When I inquired about it, the lady at the counter seemed a bit annoyed but did go to the main restaurant to get me a side. Unfortunately, she only returned with cranberry sauce and no deli mustard, which was disappointing. Additionally, the turkey did not fully cover the bread, leaving a quarter of it as plain toasted bread. Despite these issues, the sandwich was tasty enough.

Overall, Claire's Too is a good spot for a quick bite or coffee, but be mindful of potential discrepancies with menu descriptions. The staff's response could have been more accommodating, but the quality of the food was satisfactory. I would still recommend giving it a try, especially for their beverages and pastries.

Additional Information:

Great location near Fletcher's Cove for a beach day.
Offers a small picnic area for a quick outdoor snack.
Variety of specialty coffees, snacks, and pastries available.
Check your order for accuracy, as some ingredients might be missing.
The main restaurant next door, Claire's on Cedros, is also worth a visit for a more extensive dining experience.

Parking: Huge free parking lot across the street, but can fill up as it is a stop for the train.

When you wait for your seat for the brunch place next door, this is the place you should go to grab a coffee and enjoy the waiting time. The coffee is very nice, we had a americano and a coconut cortado, both are nice. We also came back to grab their home made cookies after our meal because they served us after with the check. It was so delicious! It’s the cookie scone!

Basically this is your round about way of getting Claire's to go when the lines are beyond busy. They are able to service you the full Claire's menu to go and they have delicious pastries and drinks. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'm never disappointed by their options. The aesthetic is nice :)

Vegetarian options: There are options, but last I remember, they aren't specifically marked.

Dietary restrictions: I believe there are options for those with dietary restrictions.

Parking: There is parking onsite, but not enough to accommodate Claire's on Cedros AND Claire's Too. They are located across from the train station, and though you aren't supposed to, the wide train parking lot is open and free and not strictly enforced.

Kid-friendliness: It's kid friendly.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is no stairs to Claire's Too, and I believe there is a dip to enter onto the sidewalk/pavement/level of Claire's Too.

There is a reason this place is so highly rated. Great atmosphere, amazing food, and a really great staff. Check it out!

Creative, inviting menu. I chose recommended popular dish of green something eggs, and it was delicious. Pleasant to sit outside, where it was easy to hear each other. Plentiful portions, nice service, tasty fresh food.

Amazing service and food. Menu selection is not overwhelming and a good selection is presented. Coffee is good and they make their own inhouse coconut milk. The vibe is very friendly with humans and dogs allowed outside. Great place for family/friends or small breakfast date. If I was in the area I’d definitely go there again.

We came here for breakfast. The wait was almost an hour which was fine for us to wait. Good food and excellent coffee. My only critical note is on their buttermilk biscuits. Too thin, came sliced and burnt. They should have kept whole and not grilled.
