Place is amazing - fantastic food, awesome bucha, and the service is impeccable. James is the best.

Fantastic spot after a day at the beach. Good drink options (and not just good beer!) and wonderful Sushi. Had the aguachile special tonight and it was outstanding. Definitely one of the best options for foodies in Solana Beach.

Had no idea Local Roots has sushi from KAI OLA! Making the trek up and waiting for a table at their location in Leucadia is daunting but here it was fast and delicious.

Recently moved to the area and decided to stop in on New Years Eve for an early dinner. The place wasn't too busy, but still had a great vibe. We were greeted by Jade, who was super friendly and explained each of the flavors of the Hard Kombuchas and even let us try a few! I had the Key Lime Pie. Their sushi menu is extensive, and has the basic sushi rolls and also specialities. Jade also knew a lot about the menu and the rolls, and recommended the moonlight roll and the grandview. We also got other items on the menu. Overall, we highly enjoyed the place and are happy we have a taproom/sushi in our new home!!

So I got a gift card for Christmas to local roots, excited and went last night for dinner to try it out....... and this is why I don't go out much to establishments, service sucked, 45 minutes to order a stinking sushi roll!!! And loud in there, they were doing trivia. Ughhhh....had 1 kambucha...God I left hungry didn't even eat sushi....young man named omar was trying to be nice about my experience, thanks for trying. But overall a horrible experience at local roots, sorry guys, I expect excellent customer service when I do out spending good money. Merry whatever.

Such a friendly local vibe. Hand a craving for some sushi and kombucha so this hit the spot. The service was great and we really appreciated the healthy menu selections. They have music some nights too.

Very light on the fish for a $23 poke bowl (Rainbow - tuna, yellowfin and salmon). Lots of salad/cabbage and rice but had to hunt for the fish - can you find it? (photo). Crunchy roll was fair and also thin but tasted good.Decent craft beer selection too.

Best place ever! The bartender, James, is super nice and personable, the food is delightful, and the alcoholic drinks are so good! You’ll get some good conversation with some regulars and the staff and be really full and happy when you leave!

This place is a hidden gem. Incredible hard kombucha and a great selection of sushi. Incredibly warm and welcoming environment, our bartender (James) does a fantastic job. I wish I lived closer so I could be a regular, I will be back for sure.

Great and very fresh foods. Pork sandwich was yummy. Owners were very nice and the price was reasonable. Clean inside and fast service.

Yikes, I was really hoping to like this place but it was rough on so many fronts. The tofu poke bowl was pretty bare for the price but fine until I hit huge chunks of iceberg lettuce that were enormous and just the leftover pits. There was only one bartender and as people started to come in it was definitely not enough coverage for all the bussing, service, etc that was needed. At one point "Who Let The Dogs Out" started blasting on full volume over the speakers and the bartender said " Sorry our Bluetooth got hacked". It was just weird and not a good vibe or great food from start to finish. Maybe that was on me to get tofu instead of fish, but still not a great experience. The NA kombucha was really good though!
