Whenever I come to Solvang, I make a bee line for Birholms to take a massive amounts of boxes of pastries to my family and friends back home. Their almond crinkle is heavenly. The pastry comes out light and flakey. Their fruit fillings are Devine! I also get apricot and raspberry Kringle. I love their onion bread and pick up a couple tubs of their cheddar cheese spread. They have so many choices! You can also buy a variety of colorful, hand decorated tiny desserts for a charming tea party. It is usually busy and has a line but definitely worth the wait! Staff is kind and friendly. Usually, the staff is dressed in traditional Danish outfits. If in Solvang, you need to stop here and load up!

We love Birkholm's, we leave Orange County at 5:30am(every month)and arrive around about 8:45am everytime we head to Chumash Casino, we have Lemon Danish pastries for breakfast and place our order for a dozen more to be picked up on Wednesday as we go home with pastries for the next week or so. This is a great place with very friendly people.

They have 2 vegan options the palm leaf and boats. Their 2 vegan options are not labeled vegan but i asked the cashier and she said they are vegan. The boat comes in strawberry, cherry, apple or lemon. We shared one and it was a delicious treat. It cost $4.75 and was a good portion

We visited Solvang during winter break, and my wife mentioned that Birkholm’s Bakery & Cafe seemed like a famous spot.
I ordered a latte, and my wife picked two Danish‑style breads, a pastry, and a cinnamon bun.
The breads and pastries tasted good, but the latte didn’t have a strong coffee flavor — it was more milk than espresso. That part definitely needs improvement.

Ordered a box full of assorted pastries. When I say DONT SKIP THE GUAVA DANISH…so good. Establishments was clean and staff was welcoming the day after Christmas. It was bustling with activity as people who came to enjoy the holidays in Solvang were met with tons of rain. I know I felt the urge for a pastry the minute skies cleared. 🙂 definitely recommend this place for a quick treat!

The bear claw was perfectly buttery, the eclair had a rich, smooth filling, and the banana pastry was a standout — light, sweet, and incredibly satisfying.
