The venue itself is pretty nice. However. When there's special events, I think there should be more than one person serving. It took awhile for us to order or get our refills. I'm sure it's a much better service when it's not a special occasion. But, their biggest event is the Christmas parade time. They should have still been prepared. Their little patio area is very nice.

I have visited Clean Slate twice since arriving in Solvang and both times I have been struck by the impeccable service and delicious wines. My partner and I recently moved to Solvang and were first enticed to the location by the offer of tasting 5 wines for $25. During our first experience we were taken care of by Jason. He impressed us with his knowledge of wines from a variety of places in California (mostly local, small batch wines) and included interesting stories about the vineyards and makers. We immediately made a note to visit this wonderful tasting room again. Our second experience was semi-accidental as we wandered in after noticing how busy it was on a Monday evening. We had already eaten, but could smell the delicious food while walking past it. We fortunately decided to stop and share a bowl of the night’s special Shrimp Étouffée. After a conversation with our server, Lacey, we discovered that the food changes weekly which adds an element of adventure to the location. Lacey was kind, knowledgeable, and recommended and poured multiple wines for us to taste to enjoy with our meal. After enjoying our meal Jason came over to check on us. He mentioned that his wife, Melissa, was the chef of the location and had also prepared a beautiful, rich chocolate brownie with ice cream. We decided to indulge and again asked Lacey to help us pair a wine to enjoy our dessert. Lacey recommended their house blend (the Volo Shot) which was delicious. We will definitely be returning and cannot recommend this location enough. While it is a block from the main street in Solvang, it is more than worth a slight detour to enjoy the amazing wines, lovely service, and delicious food.

We have been here twice and couldn't be more impressed. For our first visit, Jason presented fun stories with their weekend wine flight special. He was very knowledgeable, all the wines were delicious and there were amusing little worksheets provided on which to illustrate something to associate with each wine. For our second visit, we enjoyed the shrimp etouffee prepared by Chef's Melissa and Jason (there are two Jason's) along with wines recommended by our server Lacy that paired beautifully. Will be making this a regular stop.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this unique gem in downtown Solvang. Reading previous reviews piqued my interest due to the changing menu. We went on a Monday night for their Cajun menu. The chef Melissa is from Louisiana and she definitely delivers flavor packed authentic dishes! We were 2 couples and shared the harvest squash salad, red beans and rice, jambalaya, crab & shrimp etouffee and blackened chicken salad. Everything was delicious. The dessert was a flavor festival for the palate!! We sat out on the comfortable patio deck and the service was great. Melissa actually checked on us and served us a few times. It was a very special experience.

Amazing Solvang experience. Savannah took amazing care of us. Jason and Melissa were very experienced with wine and gave us great education and history of wines. The food was amazing. We had a shrimp dip and a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich. Small family owned business that’s super friendly and amazing.
10/10 would come back!

Atmosphere was great and the restaurant was busy in a good way. The service 5⭐️. Having the staff check in on your drink, see if you want / need food, from “we need to re polish the wine glasses” attention to detail is so important. Especially when businesses are fighting for every dollar and people spending their hard earned dollar want a place that cares. This place is a MUST visit. I’m also coming back tomorrow with my pup as well behaved dogs are allowed on the front deck / patio !! Did not try to food today but tomorrow could bring another review !

Recommend to everyone visiting Solvang. The drinks menu is diverse but the best part of the rotating menu throughout the week! We stopped by on Curry Night and had multiple dishes from the menu. Flavor was perfect and delicious to the very last bite.

The best service we had during our weekend in Solvang. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
The wine tasting was delightful for a novice like myself.
I wish I could find a place closer to home with a pimento dip like theirs.

This is my second time visiting this little wine bar and I absolutely love it! We had some small bites the first time which were amazing but this time the cook called out so we just had some wine. Regardless we enjoyed our time here and the wine is so good! I got a wine flight for $25 (2 whites and 3 reds) we will definitely be back when we come back to Solvang.

I had a great time at this place and would recommend it to anyone. Jason, the owner, has a great knowledge of independent wine makers in the region. He has helped them for years and is now running a tasting room in Solvang that allows people with more wine making skills than Capital to get their wines in front of customers. We came twice in a weekend and joined the wine club. There is a great selection of Santa Barbara county wines in addition to the Bocce Ball Wines that Jason makes.

In addition, the place is cozy and relaxing, the service is great, and the food menu, though limited has really great wine pairings. This place is earned its reputation on Google maps.

The manager and a waitress there are rude. They ignore the clients service request with the excuse of busy. The manager expelled us saying that this is not a right spot for us. Just because we have a baby crying and need some hot water to make the food. they don’t have time to serve us. Very rude.

Great owners and wonderful staff. The location is excellent and the food incredible... They are not a regular restaurant, so check the day you are going to see what's on the menu and if they are hosting a private event. I totally recommend Fridays for the Viking Sandwich and a honey ale. They have awesome wines as well. One of the best local spots for my wife and I. Be sure to stop by when in Solvang.
