wine tasting with friends this weekend at Kaena - I opted for the higher end reds and it was divine. our wine connoisseur was fun and explained every varietals we tasted. two of my friends had the white varietals and enjoyed them too.
Recently visited in the midst of the pandemic and while we enjoyed the wine were very put off by the staff. We arrived around the opening time of the wine room (which was about an hour later than all the other rooms in town) and they weren't set up giving the several of us gathered a lot of attitude and telling us they just arrived. Really not the fault of the patrons that staff us late and certainly didn't merit the negative vibe we all got. They were also busy serving wine club members which delayed further the opening of the room. Give the wine 4 stars but the service 2!
One of thee best I give it two thumbs up and 5 stars trust me you’ll enjoy the wine

Mahalo Mikael for the '16 JWB. You really hit a home run with this one, such a great blend. Had it with burgers, took a little time to open up but when it did - WOW. Rich with a nice long finish. Aloha from Kauai.
They are very friendly and knowledgeable.. Great wines getting even better. Aloha !!
Excellent line of Grenaches to taste. Go for the large line-up of wines - All done very, very well. You're bound to find something you like. The tasting room is nothing special, so if you go, you're going for their excellent quality wines, not some over the top tasting room experience. Great write ups on each of their wines that explains their differences and origin.
We love all of their wines. Michael is an awesome wine maker. He is one of the best wine makers in the region.

Had our “Farewell Honolulu Dinner†tonight at Hy's Steakhouse. Of course there were Prime Steaks, King Crab, Rack of Lamb and Terrific “Private Label House Wines from Kaena Wines! Everything paired beautifully - as we knew it would!!! See you in Vegas!
Overall, I enjoyed this place, but it has some polarizing elements. The Tasting Fee is $15 for (5) 1-oz pours. PROS 1. Hawaiian theme 2. Tasty wines with unique flavors and interesting tropical notes CONS 1. Small, with little atmosphere and seating (no patio) 2. Stingy pours 3. The Bartender hurried us along by coming by with the next pour while we still had half the previous one left
Great staff, great wine, great time!!
amazing wines beautiful staff inside and out and very Ohana!!!
We knew we liked the wines because Ozzie at Nielsen's pointed some out to us and we had tried the Grenache. So Easter weekend we tried the tasting room, which was a positive experience, but a little busy. We went back toward the end of July on a quieter morning and had a first rate experience. Sarah was knowledgeable about the wines, the philosophy, and the region, and paid close attention to what we liked (we each tried a different flight). When we arrived there was one gentleman who clearly was enjoying the wine, and after a bit, Sarah firmly, humorously, and gently told him he was done. I have seen more more experienced tasting room staff have more difficulty saying "no" with such grace. We do like Grenache, and the array here shows the grape to advantage, but we also like both their white and red blends. The white is especially nice outdoors on a warm afternoon. There are lots of tasting rooms in Los Olivos, and you have to pick and choose. Do choose this one.
