Our visit to the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen in Solvang was delightful. With an array of tempting flavors, we indulged in the dark chocolate walnut and chocolate raspberry fudges, and they did not disappoint. The dark chocolate walnut fudge was a bold experience, offering a richness that was both satisfying and deeply enjoyable. Each bite was a testament to the craftsmanship and quality ingredients used in its creation. Equally impressive was the chocolate raspberry fudge, which burst with flavor and had just the right balance of sweetness and tartness. It was a harmonious blend that left us craving more with every bite. We found the fudge portions to be generously sized. In summary, our experience at the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen was nothing short of delightful. If you find yourself in Solvang craving something sweet, be sure to pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed.

So much fudge!!! It was so hard to choose and I was bummed you couldn't try them but I understand. After going back and forth we decided on maple pecan fudge. It was so soft and tasty! Each bite was better than the next. They sell by the slice and one slice came out to $6.50. The service to be helped was fast and the employees were very sweet and accommodating. It's a very small shop so you go in, pick your fudge, pay and get out and enjoy it while walking the streets and shopping!

Tried a piece of peanut butter and of Oreo. The peanut butter was hard on the outside but the inside looked like uncooked dough, it was so soft it was runny. The Oreo one didn’t have the same texture issue but it tasted like canned frosting.

Craving something savory, doughy, and delightful like a pretzel? The Old Danish Fudge Kitchen in Solvang, California makes the absolute best pretzels I have ever tasted. They have been open and serving quality since 1961. While the name of the spot is "Old Danish Fudge Kitchen", their pretzels are the actual star of the show in my opinion. The store itself has a very welcoming environment and the workers have always been very pleasant. While the inside of the store is relatively small, it has never once felt crowded inside because the workers are quick to keep any line moving. The inside of the store is also always typically very calm, clean, and orderly. Not only can you get a free sample of fudge while there, you can also indulge in the delight that is their homemade pretzels. These pretzels have the perfect texture of a crunch on the outside with a nice soft inside. Along with that, their pretzels are flawlessly concocted with the perfect amount of butter and salt. Unlike most other popular pretzel chains, their pretzels don't leave your hands covered in a buttery mess! For example, my personal experience with places like Wetzel's Pretzels is that they tend to put way too much butter and salt on their pretzels which tends to get pretty messy. This is a huge factor that separates them from the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen for me. I am not exaggerating when I say I seriously reminisce on how good their pretzels are often. As if that wasn't enough, you have the option to get a little thing of cheese to spread on the pretzel. While you might think that a side of cheese is something you could get at any other pretzel chain, they don't just sell you nacho dipping cheese you could get anywhere. Their cheese is different from the rest because it is fresh, and spreadable sharp cheddar cheese. Coming from someone who doesn't even like cheese regularly, their pretzel paired with the cheese is actually amazing. Not only is the cheese quality, but it is also much more affordable being that it only costs $0.25 (as of 2022) compared to places like Wetzel's Pretzels whose nacho cheese goes for $1.99 and Auntie Anne's cheese that costs $0.99. This is just another one of the significant differences between the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen and most other pretzel chains. I think charging $1.99 for nacho cheese you could for cheaper at any grocery store is borderline criminal. This just reaffirms how unmatched the sharp cheddar cheese from the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen is. Taking into account that a majority of popular pretzel chains just sell the regular liquid nacho cheese, meanwhile their cheese is more of a firm and spreadable cheese. But wait, there's more! Another perk of the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen is that if you enjoy the sharp cheddar cheese they serve with the pretzels you can actually purchase a whole tub of it inside. I think the fact that they sell tubs of the cheese speaks for itself on how likable it really is. These pretzels are by far the best because of their amazing taste, quality and uniqueness of the cheese, and their affordability. In comparison to popular pretzel chains like Wetzel's Pretzels and Auntie Anne's, the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen's Pretzels are much more affordable. While the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen's original pretzel is priced at $3.25 as of 2022, an original pretzel at Wetzel's Pretzel costs $5.99. That is quite a large price difference in my opinion, considering you could get two pretzels at the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen for just $0.50 more than what one pretzel would cost you at Wetzel's Pretzels. Auntie Anne's on the other hand is a little more affordable, an original pretzel there is $4.39. This is still a bit more expensive compared to the $3.25 that the pretzels at the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen costs but it is a bit better of a cost than Wetzel's Pretzels. To sum up the comparison of an original pretzel from Wetzel's Pretzels, Auntie Anne's, and the Old Danish Fudge Kitchen, I think the overall quality and co

I don’t know if it’s because it might be “Danish fudge” or what, but the fudge I got (chocolate pb, pb, and a brown sugar variety) were gooey and tasted like they were missing an ingredient. Peanut butter was the strangest tasting. I was disappointed.

I love me some good fudge, so when I saw this place I was super excited to buy some to bring back home! Unfortunately the young lady that helped me was not friendly at all which was weird because everyone that I encountered in Solvang stores and restaurants were so nice! Anyway, she seemed rushed and when I asked if they offered samples she sternly said no with no reason.....so I ordered the dark chocolate with pecans and the Mexican hot chocolate. They were both dry and crumbly from the outside and I'm used to smooth fudge so that was a disappointment and they were extremely sweet! I like sweets big it's seemed a bit much....also, I know the sign said the Mexican hot chocolate was spicy but I didn't expect that kick at the end...and I like spice but it was too much even for my husband who loves spicy food, he was coughing because he didn't expect it! If I had been given a sample I would have known not to but these flavors....overall bad experience. Probably won't be buying from here again.....definitely have had WAY better fudge elsewhere.

Love this place! Only 4 stars because they don’t sell cheese for pretzels “temporarily”

Pecan fudge was not fudge, it was cake icing with pecans in it. Inedibly sweet. On the other hand, pretzel was pretty good.

I find that this cute little shop tends to be pretty busy. Packed with both people and fudge. Their fudge is pretty good, but I think my favorite things here are their caramel-based goodies.

Cute little shop with the best caramel I’ve ever had in my life! I got a caramel apple both sliced (eaten immediately) and not sliced (eaten about 8 hours later) and they are the yummiest caramel apples. The turtles are amazing as well, they’re as big as your face! Great prices and service!

Nice small little fudge and chocolate shop. It's not a very large selection, but the prices are better than most. The staff is friendly and helpful.
