Paula you are a delight. The servers are so nice and prompt. The food is delicious. And the coffee was next level. Also the atmosphere was pure Solvang Danish. People seem to gravitate here for the cozy vibes and fluffy pancakes.
Honest review:
1) They should put a screen door to prevent fly moving inside the restaurant if they don't want to close the door.
2) Servers should be more organized and accomodating with the customers.
3) Food was served fast and with it comes to taste it was average and overpriced.
4) Tried the capuccino coffee and personally think it was just average.
I was amazed that it gets so crowded though everything is average.

Paula’s Pancake House was fast, had great service, and delicious food. A real down-home breakfast spot! Our server, Daniela, greeted us right away, took our drink order quickly, and followed up shortly after for our food. Everything came out fast and tasted amazing. We shared a Danish pancake (a must-try!), and also had the chicken fried steak and hash Benedict, all excellent!

This was the worst experience for breakfast I have had in a long time. I had the Steak and Eggs, the steak I ordered rare which was over cooked as well under seasoned there was no flavor whatsoever. It was a cheap piece of steak the steak knife I received was not adequate enough to cut. The eggs I ordered over medium which weren’t correct, I got fruit with my meal came out mushy tasted old. My wife’s meal wasn’t any better we also asked can swap the toast/biscuit for a pancake just pay the up charge but was told no. The people that sat next the waitress allowed it for them so that was disappointing we got told know but others get that option, the flies flying around inside the restaurant was quite annoying. Lastly we tried to pay with a VISA gift card but was told know we can’t since there machine only takes the tap chip or cash, which is false information when leaving there card machine has the swipe capability so that is very rude unprofessional telling and treatment like that. I don’t recommend this as a good breakfast option in Solvang.

Great dog friendly place with big menu of standard breakfast fare. Some Danish specials and pancakes that I could not have because no gluten free options for pancakes, unfortunately. Lovely staff, awesome patio.
People who arrived after us were seated before us. Waited an hour before we got sat. A smile doesn’t excuse the terrible service from the lady at the front

O’ pancake, pancake, where art thou of pancake. :D Let’s delve into this iconic house of pancakes.
Paula’s Pancake House is a popular family owned diner serving American and Danish breakfast and lunch. It is the town’s original pancake house. They’re located in the heart of Solvang, CA.
They serve vast food items from omelettes to pancakes to waffles. They open as early as 7 am and crowd already lined up. I had a Paula’s combo pancakes x eggs x OJ. All were good. Danish Pancakes were thin, wide and flat with apple cinnamon on top. And it’s not overwhelming like your typical thick buttermilk pancakes from iHOP or Dennys.
Service was fast. Staff were affable and competent. Atmosphere has that old diner vibe. Prices were very reasonable. One con about this place was that there were flies hovering everywhere. I had to whoosh them every time. I guess even amongst local flies this pancake house is popular. lol.
Overall, it’s a modest diner that serve nice breakfast. I recommend you visit if you’re in town.

My first time here and the wait time was worth it! I'm not sure how busy the restaurant is on a regular basis but I spent Labor Day weekend in Solvang and Paula's Pancake House was crowded!
Do not let that deter you..Breakfast or lunch at Paula's is a must.
The restaurant has an at home, comfortable atmosphere. It's clean, and very welcoming. You can also opt to be seated in their patio as well.
I ordered their Danish Pancake Breakfast Combo; Eggs, Danish Sausage and a thin Danish Pancake topped off with fresh Strawberries. The portion served is very generous. It's filling, flavorful, the strawberries were fresh, the Danish sausage
and pancake were delicious.
Our waitress was nothing short from amazing!! She was friendly and she did not miss a beat. We had absolutely no hiccups with our orders or drinks. She really made our experience at Paula's feel like we were visiting family.
Highly recommend, enjoy!

Paulas pancake house is the place to be in Solvang for breakfast. I’m sure there are plenty of delicious places but this continues to have a line every single day.
The service is friendly and extremely fast. They wear cute danish uniforms that play into the Solvang feel. The danish pancake was delicious! The coffee was regularly refilled which was much appreciated but us fast drinkers. The homemade biscuit wasn’t the best but the rest of the food was delicious and more than enough for 2 people.

Stopped by for breakfast around opening and didn’t have to wait in line. Service was friendly, the food was good and reasonably priced, and the kids especially enjoyed the waffles. I’ll definitely stop by again on my next Solvang trip

Paula's Pancake House in Solvang is very popular. On a Sunday morning, we stood in line for 45 minutes just to get our name on a waiting list. We then waited for another hour to get seated. The long wait is understandable because of the quality of their food and the helpfulness of the wait staff. The staff helped each other. During our meal we had at least three different people bring us our orders and ask us if we need anything. Paula’s is famous for its Belgian Waffles. Their menu features a large variety of waffles, crepes, omelets, fresh-cooked eggs, breakfast meats, fruits, and vegetables. We all found our meals to be delicious. A visit to Solvang is notable for its Danish atmosphere, but is not complete without a stop at Paula’s.
