Breakfast was amazing when it was Fremont Diner. The last time we visited was for lunch after the change to Lou's when we got the chicken and biscuit. That visit was great. Our most recent visit was breakfast and I don't know if I'll ever return to what used to be one of favorite spots. The chicken was still pretty good (not their best effort though) but the waffle was flavorless and soft. The worst part was the "syrup". It was like beige sugar water. Just disgusting. Very disappointing. The staff seemed bored and uninterested in being there. At least it was ready fast, and still a beautiful location.

Great roadside Diner. Chiken waffles were excellent. Great patio to view the Vineyards.

Been going here for about a year now and while I love the flavors, the ordering and overall customer service, albeit a limited frills place, leave something to be desired. Maybe we caught you on a frustrating day, but you didn't have biscuits that day, and I love me some biscuits. You need to be more accommodating when a pretty big shift like that occurs.

Been coming here since Freemont Diner in 2012 and up until late 2023 it has been a 5 star establishment that we’ve visited a minimum of 2 times per month.I hope management and ownership take note of this: Lou’s has always over delivered on price and quality. It has everything going for it to be a thriving business. Great location and the only real southern esque chicken and waffles type place in the area.Lately quality has been sliding in ways that make it feel like it is not a priority. The maple syrup served with chicken and waffles used to have butter and real vanilla, now it is watered down sugar syrup that doesn’t look dark or taste like maple. A side waffle now costs 8/9$ and only 2 months ago was 5. Even a breakfast sandwich that was on the smaller side for 7/8 is now 11/12. An abrupt rise in the cost of food. I’m aware labor and costs have been rising everywhere for the past few years but to do it so abruptly makes me wonder if anyone was watching costs of goods or they are just raising prices to gouge.Lastly the tables outside are in horrible condition. A few years ago the business spent a lot of money to pour a new concrete patio for outdoor seating that looks really nice. Now after 2 wet winters uncovered seating outside is at rickety tables that are water logged warped and completely flimsy with the finish peeling off. Please re invest into this business! I want to keep supporting it. Especially when you have poured so much time and money into your great new pizza place, Bucks in El Verano.

We stopped by here on the way to visit friends in Napa. We loved the ambience but the food was even better. Friendly staff and an overall pleasant experience. We will definitely be back.

Unsuspecting luncheonette on the side of the road in wine country. The quality of the food doesn’t match what you would expect. Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Breading and crunch was great and the chicken was not dried out. The chicken biscuit (#1 with honey) was amazing. Sweet and savory was a great combination. Mac n cheese was creamy and the Mac was not over cooked. I would consider this Bay Area average prices with most plates are around $14ish dollars. Great value for what you get.

Been going to this spot for years, through multiple name/ownership changes. The fried chicken has always remained a delicious specialty. I’ve yet to find a spicy chicken sandwich that exceeds it. For a long stretch it was nearly a weekly event - that good! That said, I’m not sure what happened in the last few months but the sandwich with fries went up from $15.25 to $19.25 and a Mexican coke went up from $2.50 to $4. Still worth it but I’ll be reducing the frequency.Kid-friendliness: Outdoor space has kid sized yellow Tonka dump trucks, there’s a ping pong table and depending on how busy there’s space for kiddos to run around.
