I had high hopes because I read that the chef owner was Japanese and saw promising photos. The atmosphere was authentic. Server was pleasant and elegantly handled lunch service alone. I decided not to order sushi because the chef seemed to have a day off. Unfortunately, the pork katsu was unbelievably overcooked to jerky dry. They didn’t have shredded cabbage or Japanese mustard, a standard condiment for tonkatsu. Saving grace was that the rice was nicely cooked. King Kong Bowl was good except for the imitation crab. Water had an off taste. Overall an average Japanese-American restaurant.

Delicious Japanese cuisine including sushi, sashimi, rolls and bowls. Cozy seating with rustic decor; reservations are recommended on weekend nights. Plentiful, easy parking adjacent to Lucky Supermarket.
Great sushi and service. Would definitely visit again when in the Sonoma area!

We had a wonderful dining experience there last night! Service, food and atmosphere were on point! We were celebrating a belated birthday and they surprised us with strawberry emoji and whipped cream for the birthday girl. Overall wonderful experience ✨

Everything was absolutely amazing, fresh and delicious.
The miso soup was one of the best I've ever had.

Been here in the past and it was ok but went recently when it was too busy. Eventually I was served the priciest yet skimpiest Chirashi bowl I’ve ever had. It was tiny, uninspired, with a small few sad pieces of sashimi and didn’t even come with miso soup. I was incredibly unsatisfied, especially knowing any other sushi restaurant would have done 10x better on it. Absolutely not worth the unpleasant experience and insanely overpriced measly bowl of rice.

Wow! This place is amazing. I don't know how Sonoma got so lucky to have high quality sushi in town. We used to drive out of town to get great sushi and are delighted that Shige is tucked away in an unassuming shopping center. I love the pork belly and salmon collar and only wish I had the appetite to get both at once. The setting is great and I really like the patio when it is open or getting to go and eating in Maxwell Park in summer so our kid can go banana's on the playground and we can take our time to savor our sushi at the picnic tables.
Good fish quality

I ordered avocado rolls and cucumber rolls. Very easy to make. They were falling apart and the nori was so rubbery, that I was afraid that I was going to choke! Edamame was not even cooked properly. My husband’s rainbow roll was also falling apart. We won’t go there again.
