Pleasantly delighted by this sushi spot. Fresh fish and great ambience inside, don’t be put off by the strip mall surroundings. The sashimi was very fresh and sushi rolls generous.

Love this place. was just in town for a long weekend but read that this was one of the best sushi places and no lie, it is! small place and we got a table right away I think only because of the holiday weekend. service was great. very small business, local feel. seem to have some regulars. sashimi was super fresh and reasonably priced for what you get. wish I lived closer!

Visiting from SF Bay Area and staying at the Sonoma Fairmont. We found this Japanese restaurant nearby and it was awesome. They opened up the back patio for us so we could bring our 2 dogs traveling with us. Thank you. The food was so authentic as we just had traveled to japan earlier this year and it tasted very close to the mother country. Even the owner hand delivered some of the dishes to us - what service!

Great sushi option! A lot of their rolls seem to have fried components, and we love the Godzilla roll. Excellent salmon sushi, and the sashimi salad was delicious as well. Every piece here has been delicious! I wish there was a little more seating space, but at least less people inside generally means fast service.

Best, and only, sushi spot in Sonoma. The food is fresh and delicious and the ambiance is amazing. I love their carpaccio, but all of their rolls are really good. I will say, the fried roll that I tried was mostly rice, but everything else was delicious and perfect My favorite roll was the crazy ninja. Can't wait to come back

Amazing food, service, and quality! Everything was delightful, and only 4/5 because of the "packed in like sardines," vibe from the seating arrangements. Don't let that deter you from giving this place a try; your tastebuds will thank you

Honestly, wow. First and foremost, the quality of the fish was superb. Service was also great. Arrived 25 min before close after a post wine-tasting nap went long, and although they hesitatingly allowed us in the empty restaurant, they were absolutely wonderful after we walked in the door. Uni, saba, mackerel, and hamachi were all excellent! The toro cut roll, and two other cut rolls we tried, were equally good. We feel like this was some of the best sushi we've had in a long time!

Fabulous hirame engawa! Everything else is, too! The hostess Michelle is attentive, helpful and kind. It's a great place to have sushi. We are lucky to have them here.

This place is very refreshing in Sonoma Valley. Best sushi in the area and the owner cares about the quality of the fish and gets much of it straight from Japan. Great restaurant great atmosphere and great prices.

We are in Napa and drove to Sonoma for some sushi. Located within a shopping mall, with lucky, Panda Express, etc (no judgement), Shige has a legitimate Japanese chef (Shige Mori) that brings real Japan to Sonoma. FRESH. AUTHENTIC. FAMILY.Made with care from the finest seasonal ingredients, presented in an artful composition, and served with deep respect, Shige Sushi & Izakaya brings the real Japan to Sonoma Valley. There are the staple items that catered to the American palate such as the bigger sushi rolls, but if you dig deeper in the menu also featured the more unusual fish as well as small plates and traditional donabe. My personal favorite is the large sashimi platter ($60) that even has the best "otoro" tuna in the mix. There is a menu featuring premium sake will complement well with your meal. Time to explore Shige, just ask for some of the more traditional authentic Japanese dishes and you won't be disappointed!
