We went to 4 different wineries. This experience does not include the tasting fees; it only covers transportation and lunch. Lunch was a panini with chips and potato salad. The bread on the panini was delicious. However, having chips and tasting wine was not great. The first winery was the best in terms of picturesque views of rolling vineyards. B.R. Cohn and Mayo were my favorite stops.
This wine tour was exceptional. Paul, the tour guide and trolley driver, was knowledgeable and passionate about the area and each of the four wineries we visited. He assisted everyone with recommendations for food and wine in the Sonoma area and even provided some suggestions for things to do in San Francisco.
Overall, my friends and I had a great time on the wine tour! The highlight was definitely the trolley ride between wineries — such a fun way to explore. The tastings were decent, though each winery had a different vibe and we mostly got reds, not as many white or sparkling options. It seemed like we didn’t get the full tasting menus either. Still, it’s a great option if you want to visit multiple spots without doing much planning. Just a heads up: each winery charges a separate tasting fee — ours ranged from $24–$45.
Mom and I took the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley on the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. The trolley had a maintenance issue that day and our group ended up in a black mini coach instead. The bus sat 15, and it was a full house! Our guide Dennis was great and kept our rowdy group wrangled and on schedule throughout the day.
While we enjoyed all four wineries, Buena Vista stood out as our favorite for many reasons: our tasting guide and the stories he told, the tour of the various tasting rooms and caves, and (of course) the wine.
Lunch at the second winery of the day was very good, and consisted of a choice of paninis, potato salad, and kettle chips, with a scoop of gelato for dessert. They also had a little chocolate shop where we picked up a few truffles for a late night sweet snack.
There was definitely something for everyone on this tour, and you can even have wine shipped to your home if you find something you like (state laws may prohibit this under certain circumstances; check with the winery). Highly recommend!
Wonderful day! Great experience. Trolley car driver Paul was exceptional. Knowledge, friendly, funny and keep everyone on time. Wine stops were perfectly picked! Something special at each stop.
We had a wonderful day! Paul our driver & guide was outstanding!
4 wineries were great. The only disappointment was it was a van not the open air trolley.
Great experience and very friendly & fun atmosphere. We had great time . Thank you Paul!!!!
It was nice to try 4 smaller wineries. Seamus was our favorite. Mike was not a bad guide but he was fine- no real talk or information. Also, not blaming them but wish I’d listened to other reviews- the trolley was broken down so we just had a van and it was a beauty on day so that was a bummer.
The wine trolley is a perfect way to learn more about wine, the wine making process and to taste some beautiful wines. Paul was a gem of a driver and guide. He taught us some history too. The four wineries are unique and each offered new information as we drank and listened. Lunch was delicious and gave us full bellies for the drinking ahead. The rest of our party were strangers, but felt like friends by the time the day was done. When we booked the wine tour, we had no idea what was in store for us. It was an amazing day!!
I wish I could have booked Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley for a fun weekend with my wedding party this summer, but when I called, the man on the other line was so wildly rude. He was sarcastic and unhelpful when I asked if they could follow up via email with the details to move things forward — horrible customer service. I am a flexible and kind person, it was that bad, that I am writing this review.

Not an actual wine trolley! Showed up (10/21) and just got a normal bus. No warning given. Driver was great, but the reason we choose this tour was because of the trolley.
Edit: I was given no discount or refund on my credit card.
To say we were satisfied with our tour is a huge understatement. Paul was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and offered dinner and hiking recommendations for the next day. He played a lit playlist on the way back to drop off. He was deeply knowledgeable about the area and California history. He even made sure we stayed hydrated during the brutal 104 heat! I am thrilled we went… my favorite day of our entire vacation. Paul is a gem.
We enjoyed our day on the trolley. The driver was personable and everyone got to know each other by the end of the day. The winery visits were hit or miss, but I suppose that just goes with subjective tastebuds. Overall, we have recommended this to anyone visiting the area as it’s a fun way to see Sonoma without having to worry about drinking and driving.

We had a great time yesterday with Paul! It was like a history lesson on Sonoma, the wine industry here, and great tastings all wrapped up in one. The guide, Paul, was so knowledgeable and fun. We highly recommend!!!!
