Went here on a whim last night with my boyfriend and I'm still thinking about how delicious and affordable it was! They have a varied menu and many options for vegans like myself. We got the vegetable chow mein, hot sake, spring rolls and the ma pao tofu (amazing). Everything tasted freshly prepared and seasoned really well. I'll definitely be going back soon!

After a day at the boardwalk we wanted to get some Chinese cuisine before driving to our inn at Monterey. We saw that Golden Fu Wah got high rating on trip advisor. Kid A got a number one combo, Moms got the number 3, Kid 1 got wonton soup and potstickers and I went for pork chow mein and the walnut prawns. All the combos are well rounded combinations. The menu encompasses all that is Chinese cuisine. Jenny was our server-she was friendly and efficient, and really kind to the kiddos. The portions are generous; Jenny packaged up the 2 combos and my chowmein. The food was delicious! The wonton soup had fresh cut dark green bok choy and broccoli with slices of pork and the wontons were A+ in a flavorful broth. I loved my chowmein lots of pork and veggies interposed in a heap of savory noodles. The tempura honey walnut prawns were a perfect balance of the light crust and succulent, probably the best I've had with the house sauce light and sweet glaze but not too sweet. Oh, the egg rolls were super as well-lots of good stuff in the filling. The seasoning and spices were beautiful notes the Chefs orchestrate with nuanced precision. A definite go to when we're in the area as will have this restaurant on our itinerary.

Best kung pao chicken in Santa Cruz County. Ignore the well worn quasi dark & dreary interior, and come for the food and great hospitality.

We ended up coming to Santa Cruz when it was rainy so Chinese food sounded great and golden fu wah delivered 100! First of all, this place is cute, with hanging planters, nice windows, and cozy tables. The service was fabulous with the most kind and gracious server - my daughter even said she wished she could give her $100 because she was so kind! We ordered pot stickers and the #2 family meal (soup, egg rolls, fried shrimp, fried rice, chicken chow neon, schezuan chicken, and sweet and sour pork) along with some tea and hot sake. All in all the tab was $55 which is so reasonable for a family of 4! Everything was fresh and delicious, with a good balance of flavor. Overall, I'm so glad we stumbled across this place and would happily come again when in the area!

Finally, a good Chinese restaurant. We were there for a friday dinner date. Very old and charming restaurant and cozy too. There is plenty of public parking in the back. We had ordered hot and sour soup, spring rolls, and chow fun. Finally, hot sour soup which has sour in it and also for spice they are using green chili, so it taste different from other Chinese restaurants and we loved it. Spring rolls were made with fresh vegetables and disappeared fast, even before I could take a snap Chow fun, we had asked to make it spicy, perfectly made and again the vegetables were fresh . In short, it was Juicy, saucy, and not greasy! The service was great, too. It was a busy time, so little wait but otherwise I am happy I found a good Chinese restaurant finally. Also, economical and enough food on plates, unlike other restaurants, which uses shallow plates, which looks like a lot of food but not real. This restaurant will be easy on your wallet, too. Only if it was in South Bay...

Golden Fu Wah has some of the BEST chinese food I have ever tasted in my life! On top of that, you get lots of quality/authentic food at an affordable price with some of the kindest people working there. I always have some really nice conversations with Jenny and the other waiters there, and they are ALWAYS making sure we are comfortable and well served! I love getting the combination B, which is a blend of Szechuan chicken, fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken with a side of Hot and Sour soup. All leaving me full and VERY satisfied with enough to take home for delicious leftovers. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem and has earned all the love it gets!

Came down from Los Angeles for a weekend stay & I can say any time I come back to Santa Cruz I'll stop by. We had the broccoli beef, Szechuan shrimp, & chow mein. Food was a 10/10 and the service even better!

Flavorful. Friendly and fast! Generous amount for the price. Authentic Asian flavor. Free fortune cookies.

House chow mein (pork, beef, shrimp) had undercooked meat and gave me diarrhea even though I stopped eating half way through. Definitely tasted like it hadn't been thawed out before starting to cook it, and their "pork" is just spam from a can. Surprised people eat

Golden Fuh Wah will give you a free Chow Mein if you use Uber Eats. They do not have this deal with DoorDash unfortunately. The Chicken Chow Mein is the best tasting dish they have, hands down. We get 2 so we can have it for multiple meals. Stick to the basics. Here are tried and true dishes that are consistent and we get often: Chicken Chow Mein (the best flavor ever), Pork Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Orange Tofu, Broccoli Beef and and Crispy Wontons. The Mongolian Beef tastes good but it's too crunchy for me. You have to request hot mustard in the comments if you order online. They don't include it automatically.

What a find! For many years we've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant. We went for dinner, it looks like an old fashion Chinese restaurant. The server was very pleasant, but there was another server her name is Jenny, what gem! The food was great, my mother in law had egg fu young with shrimp, my husband had kung Pao chicken I had broccoli chicken and we started with pot stickers. You get a very generous serving. I highly recommend this very nostalgic restaurant. The owner Chris Wong is a very nice man, he brought out some sesame balls for us, delicious! I believe they have lunch specials. But the price is very reasonable. We really don't find places like this anymore.
