Excellent German food, including pretzels, schnitzel, and currywurst.
The beer selection is fantastic and our server was attentive. The pretzel with the onion-bacon jam is a necessary starter, but it's really big...so, share with a friend or two. The beet salad is lovely and refreshing, I really appreciated the mint in there. The prices were a touch on the spendy side and the atmosphere was a bit loud for some of the folks with us, especially for those wearing a hearing aid (she ended up taking them out).
My mom and I stopped by Himmel Haus during our Tahoe trip, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our visit! We were lucky to have Solomon as our waiter—he was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. You can tell he’s genuinely passionate about the restaurant and made excellent recommendations.
We had the beet salad and Brussels sprouts, and both were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. To top it all off, Solomon surprised us with the apple strudel for dessert, and it was amazing! Warm, comforting, and the perfect way to end the meal.
Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in South Lake Tahoe. Great food, warm hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere.
The food was so freaking good! I've been to Germany during my military service and honestly their food brought back so many memories. Their team was very nice and funny bringing the time we spent there great. Parking is very limited which was frustrating only because of those trying to park. I can't recommend this place any more than the words I post letting you all know to definitely come! Family friendly and some outdoor games as well on their patio area. Great place, so you should come!
Really good food and service, hidden gem in Lake Tahoe! Ordered beef stew and it’s really tasty, beer also. Pork shank is out at 8PM, so come early!
Disappointing Experience – Worst Service in South Lake Tahoe
I was genuinely excited to try this restaurant, especially to share a taste of home with my German wife who’s been living in the U.S. for the past two years. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing from the moment we walked in.
The hostess was cold and unwelcoming. She didn’t acknowledge us until I initiated a greeting. When I asked for a table for two and mentioned we had two dogs and were happy to sit outside, her response was, “Pick any table outside and I’ll be out there in a minute.”
We seated ourselves as instructed, but after nearly 20 minutes of waiting, no one came to offer menus or check in. We even saw another staff member cleaning a different table nearby. At one point, the hostess stepped outside, made eye contact with us, and said nothing before going back inside.
This was by far the worst service I’ve encountered in South Lake Tahoe. It's unfortunate because we were genuinely looking forward to what should have been a special and welcoming meal.
Love the schnitzel and German beers on tap and bottled. Takes me back to Munich.
Lots of great German beers!
Great food and beer

Cozy, local bar feel with authentic Sauerbraten and Spätzle. Parking was tight the day I went, but worth it if you like German food
Never try the pasta! It is not good to my expectations. It is mushy. I rather like potatoes. The signature dish Schnitzel is also disappointed. The meat is dry. It cost $32, I think that isn't worth it.
Didn’t know German food could be this good oh my goodness. Me and my family definitely enjoyed our meal here! Tried some new things and I was pleased with it all. The huge pretzel was delicious and the dipping sauces are great. Everything here is incredibly flavorful. The curry ketchup? Amazing! The service was great and their beers pair very well.
Bavarian beer garden vibe
The staff here makes the whole vibe. Don't get me wrong, the food is amazing. But the German vibe and the way your waiter/waitress can pour a beer and give your something unique is why this is a 5 star.
